Happy and Grateful – Day 199

July brings fireworks, picnics, pools and air conditioning. It is a time for those of us in the USA to celebrate our “birthday” and a personal time for me to celebrate life. It is hot and humid days and thunderstorms cooked up at night. I am continuing my challenge to find happiness and gratitude in every day. Join along in the comments or on your own blog. There is always good in every day.

Like so much of the country we are in a time of high heat.  They issued a heat advisory that starts tomorrow and lasts through Saturday.  Not my ideal time of the year.  But I make due with what I am given.

Today I spent a little time reading.  My daughter recommended a book for me to read.  So far it has been pretty good.  It made me happy to take the time to read a little today.  I don’t take enough time to do that.  But part of that is because I have problems with concentration and short-term memory with my fibro flares.  It gets very frustrating reading the same page over and over before I get it.

It was a great dinner we had tonight.  My boyfriend fried up some hamburger with taco seasoning and we set up all the fixin’s and made tacos.  It was so good, right down to the homemade guacamole!  I am grateful that he likes to cook and does so most nights.

Well I am going to keep this short tonight… pretty tired and hope to get to sleep soon.  I hope you find your happiness everyday!  Please watch out for the heat and try to stay cool!

  1. I know you’re a fan of the library. Have you ever tried audio books? Our library not only has those, but also allows us to listen to stuff on Overdrive. My kids have Dyslexia and listening to stories on audio allowed me to encourage them to love books and stories. I highly recommend that. It would help you enjoy reading more.

    1. I used to listen to audio books on my way to work. Now that I am not working I have only done a few books that way. You may be right, I should do more this way. I will have to check on Overdrive next time I go in. Thanks!

      1. We haven’t listened to them in a while – we used to spend a lot more time in the car 🙂 Sometimes we will listen while doing dishes or just sitting and relaxing. It is rather enjoyable.
