Monochrome Monday – Let The Music Play

Here in the US we are almost at our Independence Day and one thing that means (at least around here) is a small town parade with the local high school marching band performing.  My daughter did that when she was in school.  So in honor of all those Sousa marches with heavy flute and piccolo parts this is my post this week.

Happy and Grateful – Day 183

July brings fireworks, picnics, pools and air conditioning. It is a time for those of us in the USA to celebrate our “birthday” and a personal time for me to celebrate life. It is hot and humid days and thunderstorms cooked up at night. I am continuing my challenge to find happiness and gratitude in every day. Join along in the comments or on your own blog. There is always good in every day.

Today was pretty nice.  It was a chance to sleep in (Hurray!) and take it easy.  Only had one thing to do today.  I was grateful for a chance to just sleep until I woke up (thank you for that bladder) and then go back to sleep because it was still “too early.”

My one thing to do was wonderful!  No, not a trip to the park finally, a visitor from out of state.  She has been a family friend for over 30 years… my uncle introduced us.  She runs a restaurant and is quite a little bundle of energy.  It really made me happy to see her again and have a nice dinner with her and the family.  (…went to a nice Irish restaurant and I had boxty for the first time, it was delicious!)

The hour is getting late and I do have to set alarms for in the morning to take my Dad to the clinic for blood work.  I should wind down and try and get some rest.  Tomorrow is another day… a special day.

Hurry

Scamper and scurry
We have to hurry
The time is now
To milk the cow
And feed the hens
Clean the pig pens
The sun isn’t waiting
Daylight is wasting

Scamper and scurry
We have to hurry
There is much to be done
Now it’s a quarter to one
The fields need tending
The work is never ending
We go until dark
Even during winter’s lark

Scamper and scurry
We have to hurry
Off to bed
Rest our head
And dream of a day
Where all we do is play
When the work is all done
It is time for having fun

Happy and Grateful – Day 182

July brings fireworks, picnics, pools and air conditioning. It is a time for those of us in the USA to celebrate our “birthday” and a personal time for me to celebrate life. It is hot and humid days and thunderstorms cooked up at night. I am continuing my challenge to find happiness and gratitude in every day. Join along in the comments or on your own blog. Happy July everyone!  Around here you would swear we skipped a few day straight to the Fourth of July… they have been spending a lot of money on fireworks around us.  It is kind of funny too and the apartment management put a flier on everyone’s door reminding us of rules including the city ordinance against shooting off fireworks.  Maybe they haven’t been home after work yet today?

Aside from being on edge from the steady mini explosions out my window… today was alright.  No heavy humidity today, it was still pretty warm though.

I picked up my boyfriend after work and we stocked up on some groceries.  Saved about $17 with coupons and specials.  Then used our Fuel Saver to fill the car up and saved another $11.  It always make me happy to save money like that.

I got an email from a friend and we made some plans to have lunch together next week.  Now I have something to look forward to, so I am grateful for that.

Not working well with my muse tonight – she can be pretty difficult when she chooses.  Well that and a case of fibro fog can do me in.  So I will bid you all a good night and hope your July started out with a happy BANG!

The End Of Us

Your bags are packed
The cab is on the way.
I follow your movements
Across the bedroom
As you double check,
Making sure you have everything.
The closet is hauntingly empty,
Drawers are opened and closed
With a hollow echo.
I know we agreed on this
But I hate to see us end.
As my heart breaks
You walk out the door,
Give your bags to the driver,
And then become the passenger
In the cab that will take you away.
I watch the taillights through tears.
It is sad how it could end so quietly.
A lifetime ends with a left turn signal
And the lights disappearing
Around the corner.

Happy and Grateful – Day 181

June brings warmer weather and the start of summer. Hopefully it brings many ideas from my muse too. I continue to write for my challenge to find the things that make me happy and grateful each day this year. Please feel free to join me in this challenge with comments about your happiness and gratitude or start your own blog. There is always something good to find in each day.

The month ends on a pretty warm day.  A few more nighttime thunderstorms rolled through tonight, but much milder that the storms last night.  We really only got rain and a distant rumble or two here.

Today marks 6 of 12 months done on this challenge… just a few days short of half way.  Some rough days like today it is hard to find the happy.  I was in tears this afternoon for a lot of reasons all rolled into one.  Tears then threatened again later when a friend seemed a little short with me on texts.  I have just been feeling alone a lot lately.  I suppose it is because I am awake more during the day since I have to take my boyfriend to work.  The more awake hours, the more alone hours there are.

But I did break out a handful of stamps and used my Cricut even to make two different cards to mail out tomorrow.  Getting ink and glue on my hands makes me happy.  And for a little while I forget about the loneliness.

I have to say the grateful is pretty easy today.  My boyfriend went over to pay our July rent check and found we had been over charged on are rent for a while now and had a $200 credit… THANKFULLY now we can go restock the refrigerator as it was getting very bare.

In about five hours I have to take my boyfriend to work and I am not that tired yet.  So I will go read some more posts and hope to call it a night soon.  Don’t forget to stay grateful!
