You used to treat me like your love
Now I feel more like a friend
You used to kiss me passionately each day
Now it’s a brush against the cheek
We used to spend hours exploring each other
Now we barely even touch
Tell me what happened
Where did the fire go
I want to taste you once again
And feel the heat rise between us
It is time to bring the passion back
It is time to fall in love again
Written for Fandango’s One-Word Challenge (FOWC) – treat
I think this is not all that uncommon after years of being together as a married couple. Love transitions to friendship, marriage to being roommates, and being passionate to being platonic.
My ex-husband and I just shared a house in the end… I found that very sad. (But then there was alcoholism in the mix too.)
Alcoholism makes things even more challenging.
A gorgeous poem calling for the rekindling of love. So perfectly expressed. So, happy I didn’t miss this.
Thank you so much for your kind words!
