Abandoned Memories

I walk down the middle
Of a dark dingy hallway
At the end of the hall
I step into a room
One stark white bulb
Creates dancing shadows
Dust and cobwebs prove
This room has been ignored
I cross the room
To the table on the other side
Finding what I was looking for
A black box with gold letters
“Photographs”
The only thing left
Of a life past
Treasured memories I hold so dear
I turn off the light
And leave the house
For the last time
This part of my past
Dead and gone
