Pass Me That Knife

like a poisonous chemical
it can kill the body
slowly
painfully
it also kills everything
that is around it
families
friendships
its destructive nature
makes it a weapon
dangerous
deadly
but it is accepted in society
encouraged even
drink up
cheers

alcoholism left unchecked
is just suicide with a butter knife
slowly
painfully

    1. Thanks, the best analogy I heard once about how much one alcoholic can effect those around him is like how many thing get touched by the water from a wet dog shaking it off… it goes everywhere.

      1. I am sorry you can relate… it is a terribly difficult thing to be in any kind of a relationship with an alcoholic. But we have made it through and are stronger in a sense because of it. (((HUGS)))
