Flying Solo

Sandra was so excited, today was the day.  Today was the day her vacation started.  She was going to travel abroad for a full month.  A part of her was terrified of the trip alone, but the excitement to see far away lands won out as the stronger emotion.  She could hardly contain her excitement as she closed her suitcase and heard the cabbie honk his horn.

At the airport she began to worry about who she would be stuck next to on the overseas trip.  “I hope it is not a noisy kid,” she thought to herself.  Getting on the plane she was a bit apprehensive but when she got to her seat there was no one in the aisle seat yet.

She stored her carry-on overhead and took her window seat.  Just then she sensed someone behind her. Turning in her seat she saw a very handsome man in front of her.  “Maybe his will be a great flight after all,” she thought as she smiled at the man.

Read Between the Lines

She had a quizzical expression on her face.  She was curious what he meant when he said he wanted to stay forever.  Was this a proposal or just a statement?  They had only been together a few weeks and it was way too soon to talk about “forever” for them.  She enjoyed their time together but was not ready for a long-term commitment.  The awkward silence after it was said should have been a clue for him, but he just kept on.  “Wouldn’t it be nice to not have to travel back and forth between your house and mine?”

She just replied, “I enjoy the drive time.”

He seemed to be taken aback.  “Are we not on the same page,” he asked?

“Honey,” she replied, “we may not even be on the same book.”

Forever

We were just friends

It wasn’t meant to be

But somehow it happened

A love anomaly

Different from past loves

I knew your very soul

We shared so much

Our lives were just so full

The ease in which

You took my heart

It was quite painless

And a wonderful start

A start of something

We will always treasure

It’s you and I in love

A love to last forever

Experience, Strength and Hope

“Welcome to tonight’s meeting,” the woman said.  “Who wants to share?” A lady in the back slowly raised her hand.

“Hello I’m Sue,” she said.  “I haven’t been to a meeting in years, but my life is more than unmanageable.  I needed to be where I felt welcomed.  I have not had an alcoholic in my life for five years now, as he drank himself to death.”  She continued, “I still feel the chaos of life leaving me completely out of control and I just needed to come to a meeting.  Thanks for allowing me to join the group tonight.”

Chosen One

Do you believe

We are given

Only one chance at love?

Is there just a chosen one

That you are destined

To be with forever?

Or can you find

A second chance

To feel happiness again?

He was my chosen one

But he ripped us apart.

Now there is an urging,

A need for another.

How do I find the strength

To risk the hurt

Of a love that may be wrong;

To risk my heart

On a love that may be right?

I have to believe

The risk is worth the reward

Of a second chance love.

Inside

You tell me you are tired

But my nerves are fried

You tell me that you care

But that’s not what you share

You offer to be the one

But I feel like we’re done

You offer to stay for life

But all I see Is strife

Meanwhile I still ache inside

For a chance to feel that rush inside

That only can be felt inside

From a love that is true

You tell me your love is strong

But to me it feels all wrong

And you never stay near

Or touch me now my dear

Meanwhile I still ache inside

For a chance to feel that rush inside

That only can be felt inside

From a love that is true

Don’t miss me

Don’t chase me

Don’t hate me

…don’t you see it’s over

Meanwhile I still ache inside

For a chance to feel that rush inside

That can only be felt inside

From a love that is true

From a love that is new
