Sweet Sixteen

Bill sat at his desk shuffling papers.  He really wasn’t focused on anything.  He had just gotten off the phone with his mother.  She told him the previous day they had been at the doctor with his little sister Diane and the reason for her current health problems turned out to be leukemia.  There would be more tests and possibly surgeries.  It was too early to know for sure what the treatment would be.  The doctor did say family members should get a bone marrow test to see if they were a match. He thought, “Jesus, she is just sixteen!”

    1. Thanks for your kind words. This was written after I heard my daughter’s friend just found out his sister has cancer. So sorry to hear about your mom.
