Absence

They say the old adage

“Absence makes the heart grow fonder”

Is tried and true

So how come it feels

As though you are slipping away

You rarely spend time with me

And when you do you’re so distant

Is life just weighing you down

Or is it loss of interest in me

As you walk out the door again

Going who knows where

I wonder more if this is true

“Absence – that common cure of love”
