The Path Ahead

I have given my heart away

Many different times

And each time it ends

I lose a little more of it

Now battered and run through the wringer

I take my heart and set out on a path for the future

Hopeful that I can find

Someone who won’t hurt me

Someone who will love me

And someone who will be honest

This path may be treacherous

But it is nothing like

The road already traveled

A Demonstration Please

I need to know the truth

It is a flaw in my character

After years of abandonment

Lie after lie twisted my mind

Until I acquired a distrust

For anyone who said they cared

So, show me how you feel

Don’t simply say it

He Said She Said

He said I’m going for a walk

She said no, we must talk

While the child is asleep

This pain will not keep

He said she was laughable

She said he was culpable

He said he tried

She said he lied

He said he loved her

She said are you sure

He wanted to stay

She moved away

And standing in the dark

A boy and his dog Bark

Alone and so scared

He felt no one cared

They had been in the heat of the moment

And left the child with the torment

That he had been bad

He was incredibly sad

And he cried all night long

For what he thought he’d done wrong

And the husband and wife

Had ruined his life

With the words they had said

When they thought he was in bed

Salty Kisses

Are you able to taste

The salt left from my tears

Can you hear

The cracks in my voice

Would it even

Make a difference if you could

I used to matter

Now I feel so alone and rejected

I guess I’ll just

Sit down and cry again over you

Double Homicide

Take a look through the trees

Strain to see to the horizon

If you can catch a glimpse of heaven

You’ll see him and her

They were perfect together

It hurt so much to see him with her

But even in death they shine as one

You may have lost him

But it should comfort you to know

They were meant to be

And now they will be together forever

While you will be forever locked in hell

Break The Habit

“Where did Alan go?” Betty asked as she came into the office.  John looked up from his computer screen and said, “I hadn’t even noticed he was gone.”

Betty rolled her eyes and said, “He is probably on one of his smoke breaks.  His penchant for smoking is going to catch up to him one of these days.”

Just then Alan came up behind Betty and said. “I’m back.”

Betty turned slowly and said, “Oh man, I could smell you were back.  You reek of cigarettes.”

Alan turned a little pink in the cheeks and said, “That is harsh.”

“No, just truthful.  The boss wants to see you as soon as possible.  Which means you should have been there 10 minutes ago.” Betty informed Alan and then left the office.

John looked up at Alan and said,” Former smokers are always so nasty about smoking once they have quit.  Don’t mind her.”

“I just ignore it, like water off a duck’s back.” Alan turned and went to see the boss.

Tinker Toy

As Shelly walked into the living room, she saw Fred in his chair fooling with something in his hands.  “What is that you’ve got?”

Holding it up proudly Fred said, “It’s a Creston 285.”

“A what?”

“A Creston 285… it is a tool for – “

“A tool?  You mean another gadget.”

“Maybe.”

“Well just don’t use it on any of the appliances ‘Tim Taylor.’  They are all working fine, and I would like to keep it that way.”

“You have so little faith in me and my repair skills?”

“No, I know how you tinker with things that already work!”

Completely Annihilated

When love dies

It kills the heart

It obliterates the soul

And it destroys all hope

Ubiquitous memories of him

Assault me daily

And I feel at war with myself

Why can’t I forget

When he can so easily

Move forward

Forgotten

Spaced out

Lost in thoughts

Wishing for you

To remember me

In the zone

Day dreaming

Hoping that I

Will cross your mind

Disappointed

Crushed inside

Another day

Without a word

Devastated

Giving up

Forgotten again

As you live a new life
