Something unorthodox is out of the ordinary, against the norm, not following the rules. This year is certainly unorthodox but today I heard news that shook me to the very core… frightened me more that any ghost or ghoul could this time of year. The end of a 54-year tradition. There will be no broadcast of It’s The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown. It is a break from tradition in such an unorthodox way it almost makes me cry.
This year is crazy enough for kids. This summer they didn’t get to go to the pool. School is not normal still. They can’t have birthday parties at Chuckie Cheeses. And a lot of communities are recommending no trick or treating. Don’t take Snoopy away!
Ok sure, you can watch it if you have Apple TV, but how many families can afford that right now? People are out of work and out of patience. Don’t leave them without the Great Pumpkin! (Don’t worry though, I am safe. My daughter bought it for me a couple of years ago.)

(And as a bonus for a friend….)
There once was a businessman named Fred
Who dressed in the finest of thread
But it was quite unorthodox
How he wore flashy socks
When he met with the department head
Written for Fandango’s One-Word Challenge (FOWC) – unorthodox
Love the poem! Sorry about Charlie Brown.
Thank you.
You’re welcome 😉
Losing that long-standing tradition is awful. As you say, haven’t the kids lost enough this year? Love the flashy socks poem, though. Of course, you knew I would! lol
Yes, I did know you would. 😁
I’m with you on Charlie Brown. It’s a shame.
And love your verse!
Thank you Sandy!
Sure.
I’m in shock! No Great Pumpkin this year? What the heck? Whyyyyyyyyy?! 😭
I am sure someone is making money off of the deal to have Apple TV air it, Apple is too rich for my blood.
I’m lucky to afford Hulu and Amazon. 😉 Apple is too expensive, indeed.
