He sat at the bar staring at his drink. How could she have done this? Why was she unfaithful? He swirled the ice in his glass and took another drink. He knew his friend was taken in by her beauty, but he didn’t know the extent of that draw. How could he do this? One more swig of the liquid in his glass and the ice clicked against the sides of the glass. He signaled to the bartender to fix him another scotch on the rocks. The two of them together was so hard to fathom, but all he could see when he closed his eyes was the two of them kissing. He would not let his mind imagine more. He took the drink from the bartender and swallowed more of the alcohol. He would do all he could to drown the truth until he was numb.
