I used to tuck her in
When it was night
And I’d read to her
Out of Dr. Seuss.
If she was sick
I’d softly sing,
“You are my sunshine.”
But no matter what,
Healthy or sick,
I would make sure
She was snug in bed
By asking one question.
Are you as snug as a bug in a rug?
It was something
My folks used to ask me.
Now as she is marred,
I start to wonder
Will she pass on the tradition?
Are my grandbabies
Going to be
As snug as a bug in a rug too?
Written for Fandango’s One-Word Challenge (FOWC) – snug
Hopefully the tradition will live on!
I sure hope so.
