Wait, What, ME?

List down here

One after another

The reasons you want

To be my lover

Is it the way I walk

Or how I talk

Is it the way I look

Or how I cook

Frankly sir

I’m a bit at odds

And don’t think it could be

The action of the Gods

No I really wonder

And would like to know

How you came to pick me

When you are so… WHOA

It seems so mismatched

You and me

I wonder if you fell

And now can’t see

So why don’t you just

Save me the trouble

And leave me now

Before my heart turns to rubble

The Golden Years

His eyes have lost their shine

His look is dull and lifeless

Giving others concern

They worry he has given up

Resigned to his fate

Time is growing shorter

His years gone by too fast

His life once gave him great joy

Now his days are dreary

The aging need our understanding

Not misguided explanations

Of how retirement should be

So he shuffles down the hallway

No longer quick and spry

And looks into the mirror to see

The embers of his dreams

Waiting (WDYS #138)

The bright red boat sat waiting

Waiting for him to arrive

To swiftly take to the water

Rocking over the waves

In search of the perfect spot

He was in his element

Attuned to the lake

In a Zen state waiting himself

For that first little nibble

To bring in the big one

And capture all he can

But the time never came

A sign went on the boat

Announcing it was for sale

The fisherman can’t come

He’s casted his last line

Leaving behind a legacy

And an empty bright red boat

Apology

Photo by Vie Studio on Pexels.com

If I say I’m sorry

Will it take the hurt away

If I make amends

For all I have done

Will it change the past

If I sincerely apologize

For the choices I made

And where we ended up

Would you still be here today

If I said it once

I said it a million times

I am sorry

But you had your chances

Written for Fandango’s One-Word Challenge (FOWC) – apology

I apologize for being absent for so long… life has been, well life and one thing after another has kept me away. Things are looking pretty good though and I am back at it, trying to catch up. Hope you are all well! (((HUGS)))
