The Question

We will not do this willy-nilly

To act fast would just be silly

Let’s think on this tonight

We’ve got to get this right

It is not a piece of cake

The right decision we must make

This is about the rest of our life

You asked me to be your wife

I been down that road before

It ended with a slamming door

So don’t tell me to answer now

This is a very serious vow

Yes or no one thing is true

I will always deeply love you

(just fiction… my boyfriend and I have both been burned in the past and are not looking for marriage right now.  Just thought of this after a friend got engaged this weekend after only a few months of dating.)

Happy and Grateful – Day 226

Seven months are gone now and surprisingly I am still plugging along with this challenge to post about my happiness and gratitude every day this year.  August brings the state fair here in Iowa and lots of heat and humidity.  It is the time to see the back to school shopping start with kids dreading it and parents loving it.  As I continue my challenge I hope you will take a minute to reflect on your day too.  You can even share your happiness and gratitude here in the comments or on your own blog.  There is good in every day!

It was a day to run a couple of errands.  Not bad weather for it, a little high on the humidity, but that is normal Iowa weather in August.  It really has been nice for the Iowa State Fair so far.  Mid 80’s and no rain.  The farmers are wishing for rain and our grass is turning brown, but it should help the attendance at the Iowa State Fair.  Don’t think I will be able to go this year.  I just can’t do all the walking necessary during the day.  It is a shame though I LOVE the fair.  It is huge and there is so much to do and see.  Maybe once they cure fibromyalgia!

Today I got to spend a little time shopping with my boyfriend.  We didn’t need much but still it was time together instead of him being in front of the computer all day.  I was happy for that.

I have a friend here visiting from Georgia this week.  She just arrived in town tonight and is staying with her parents.  She will then come and stay a couple of nights with us too so we can play some cards and act like teenagers again.  I am grateful she had a safe trip here.

I am going to go watch a movie now – Walk The Line.  It is a story about Johnny Cash and I think they did a good job on the movie, seen it many times before.  Remember to find your happiness and feel your gratitude.  Have a good night/day!

Monochrome Monday – Evening Rain

This weeks post is loosely in response to the weekly photo challenge – Elemental.  All living things need water to survive, this flower is no different.  I found it after an evening rain shower while relaxing at the park.  I hope you all have a wonderful week!

Happy and Grateful – Day 225

Seven months are gone now and surprisingly I am still plugging along with this challenge to post about my happiness and gratitude every day this year.  August brings the state fair here in Iowa and lots of heat and humidity.  It is the time to see the back to school shopping start with kids dreading it and parents loving it.  As I continue my challenge I hope you will take a minute to reflect on your day too.  You can even share your happiness and gratitude here in the comments or on your own blog.  There is good in every day!

Another day to try new things… six word stories.  The extreme of limited words!  I don’t know if I cheated a bit by leading the story with a descriptive title or not, but I got it done I think.  It is on a subject I am passionate about.  I have seen one friends life almost ruined after she drove drunk.  I had a person I graduated with injured badly in a drunk driving accident.  And to this day I am so grateful my ex-husband never did drive when he was drunk… the one part of his alcoholism he seemed to have some control over.

It was another day to stick around home.  I did a little more computer “work” and some photo editing.  I am all ready for my Monochrome Monday post tomorrow.  I did get a package ready to mail out tomorrow (a book my daughter sold on Amazon).  Did some tidying up.  And got to talk to two different friends today – one on the phone and one online.  It was a good day two of vacation and I was happy to be at peace most of the day.

I need to get some rest… have to take my Dad to the clinic tomorrow for a blood draw so I can’t sleep in too late.  Find your happiness and feel your gratitude!  Have a good night/day!

Happy and Grateful – Day 224

Seven months are gone now and surprisingly I am still plugging along with this challenge to post about my happiness and gratitude every day this year.  August brings the state fair here in Iowa and lots of heat and humidity.  It is the time to see the back to school shopping start with kids dreading it and parents loving it.  As I continue my challenge I hope you will take a minute to reflect on your day too.  You can even share your happiness and gratitude here in the comments or on your own blog.  There is good in every day!

Today was an ok day.  Not great, not horrible, just a day.  First day of my boyfriends vacation and we did nothing… had a very lazy day.  I took a nap in the afternoon, he took one in the evening.  We watched some more Dark Matter on Netflix.  We did take a walk to the store down the block, but only to pick up something for dinner.  I was grateful for a day with very little to do.

I did get an opportunity to do a little cleaning up in my inbox today.  I am forever terrible about sorting through emails.  I will go through and look at the important email and leave the ads and junk mail for weeks sometimes.  I was even able to browse a few new blogs here on WordPress and find a couple new people to follow.  It made me happy to get some computer “work” done.

Now my nighttime meds are kicking in and I am starting to get drowsy.  Must be time to end this for the night.  Find your happiness, feel your gratitude.  Have a good night/day!

Happy and Grateful – Day 223

Seven months are gone now and surprisingly I am still plugging along with this challenge to post about my happiness and gratitude every day this year.  August brings the state fair here in Iowa and lots of heat and humidity.  It is the time to see the back to school shopping start with kids dreading it and parents loving it.  As I continue my challenge I hope you will take a minute to reflect on your day too.  You can even share your happiness and gratitude here in the comments or on your own blog.  There is good in every day!

I did a little something different today… I attempted a 100 word challenge with the daily prompt.  It made it glaringly obvious how much I babble when I write… 100 words is not much.  My opening paragraph this month for this blog is 101.  I felt I really went nowhere with my little story The Stranger except setting up the scene to start writing.  I don’t know how some of you can do that on a regular basis.  But anyway… I am happy I tried it and I wont completely rule it out in the future.  I just need to learn how to describe in fewer words I guess.

Today started a 10 day vacation for my boyfriend.  Not really doing much during the time off except relaxing.  Would like to make it to the Iowa State Fair but it can be so expensive!  I am sure we will have a little bit of fun over the time off even if we only make it as far as a walk in the park.  I am grateful he has the time off.

279 words and I still have to finish… I guess I never really paid attention to how short or how long the posts were before.  Gee, I hope I don’t bore you with my babbling fingertips!  I will find a way to mute them (at least here) for the night.  Find your happiness, feel your gratitude!  Have a good night/day!

The Stranger

“Delivery or pick-up?” she asked the person on the other end of the phone.

He replied, “If it’s you sugar, delivery.”

She rolled her eyes.  This job kept her rent paid, but came with some difficult customers.  “No sir, I only take the orders.  Would you still like delivery?”

She marked off delivery on the ticket and hung up the phone with a sigh.  This would be a long night at work.  Then as she turned she almost stepped into a man who appeared out of nowhere.  He was handsome and slowly smiled at her.  Maybe the night was changing…

(Just challenging myself to the 100 word fiction so many of you write so well.  100 words is not many…LOL)
