Happy and Grateful – Day 116

Good news it that I am getting better… bad news is I am losing my voice now.  It is a pretty common occurrence for me when I have a cold for the cold to leave and try to take my voice with it.  My daughter constantly makes fun of me for it.  With any luck I will only be squeaky for a couple of days.

It was another day of recovery.  I did a little light cleaning in the kitchen and that was it for the day.  I did run over to my Dad’s to get him dinner and had a nice time visiting with him.  We shared some Turtle pie for dessert – yummy!  And I guess I did some more cleaning out of my inbox.  Most of it was sale ads I don’t have the money for.  I am still hoping to hear back from a couple of friends I emailed, but nothing so far.

Well to get to the point of my babbling fingertips tonight… I am happy I was able to be a little more productive today.  I am grateful for the pretty descent day out (temps are going to fall tonight into the 30’s) so I was able to still have the windows open for a while today and hear the birds sing.  Tomorrow might require a sweatshirt, but I HOPE to carve out a small chunk of the day to head to the park.

My medicine and numerous typos (I hope I caught them all) are telling me it is time for sleep.  I hope you all felt happy and grateful for something today!

Growing Together

I want to grow roots here

ones that mingle and mix

with the ones you already planted

I want this to be home

like nowhere else has ever been

but your roots are too strong

they are forcing mine out

they refuse to grow together

suffocating my new growth

will I ever find the land

that is fit to set roots into

ones that will grow with another

to create the shade of love

Well it was a little better today, not as many sneezes but the cough is getting deeper.  I slept really pretty well last night for a change and I know that is bound to help.  I hate being sick!

Aside from being sick… I did have to take my Dad to the clinic for a blood draw.  He was feeling a bit under the weather too still.  So we were quite the pair today.  Luckily it was just the blood work and then I picked up some prescriptions and went home.

I did take a little time to look through a touch of my mounting email I have neglected while I’ve been sick, so I did accomplish something today.  I am happy I can breathe a little easier today.  I am grateful I got a little bit done to match my energy level.  Now if I can get more good sleep tonight maybe I can have an even better day tomorrow.

*And a quick note… as I have been sick (and I just plain forgot yesterday) I will be skipping my Monochrome Monday post this week.  Sorry!

I am still enduring my cold…. I do think it is better tonight than last night though.  I have napped off and on today.  And feel my posts are sub par so please bear with me while I get through this cold.

I am going for the basics tonight.  I am happy I had nothing to do today.  I am grateful I like the things that help get me better – vitamin C and my echinacea tea.  Time for sleep now… zzz zz zzzzz zzzzzzzzzzz

(oops didn’t push the publish button LOL)

Happy and Grateful – Day 113

It wasn’t quite as late of a night last night, but late enough to keep me from writing.  And to be honest it was more the way I felt that kept the muse away.  I have official gotten the cold my boyfriend had.  Spent a lot of the night coughing and sneezing instead of snoozing.  But I think the worst of it is past now.  I am drinking my echinacea tea and am getting my vitamin C from clementines to try to make it pass quickly.

Last night was one more night of having my friend over for the night.  We took it easy and just watched a movie and talked.  It looks like she is going to be headed back to Georgia soon instead of staying here.  I hope it is the right decision for her as she left due to many problems she had there.  I can’t make the decision for her though so I have to trust she knows what she is doing.

I have had the fortune of spending the whole weekend with her.  It made me happy to have her here with us.  I am grateful we were able to help her out with a place to stay as she begins to transition back to her life down South.  I will miss her when she is gone, but she does have family here and will visit… plus there is always an invitation for us to go down there to visit her.

(Please forgive any foggy thoughts and typos… I am typing with cold medicine in me,  LOL)

On The Lake

He was an avid fisherman

Would cast out his line

And be off in another world

Lost in the peace of the day

Soaking up the sun

Admiring the view

Living in the moment

Focused only on the rod

Waiting for that first slight bend

Hoping to catch the big one

I have to believe

He is still out on a lake

Catching one after another

At the whim of the wind

Wearing the wings of an angel

I am getting too old for this…  last night it was just my friend, boyfriend and myself that stayed up late playing card games.  I have napped twice trying to catch up.  Of course part of that may be the fact I have finally managed to catch the cold my boyfriend had last week, UGH!  So it has been a very lazy day.  As a matter of fact my boyfriend is now napping too.

Yes, another night of Shanghai Rummy – a 10 hand card game.  It was not as late as we only played one game not two, but it was still into the AM hours.  I still didn’t win, but it is all about having fun and that I did.  I was happy to play a favorite game again and grateful I was surrounded by special people in my life for another night.  We’ll see what tonight holds “in the cards”  …  tee hee!
