The Outstanding Blogger Award

I want to thank Sadje over at Keep It Alive for nominating me – check out her blog it is awesome!

The Rules:

  1. Provide a link to the creator’s original blog post (Very important: see why in step 5)
  2. Answer the questions provided.
  3. Create 7 unique questions.
  4. Nominate 10 bloggers. Ensure that they are aware of their nomination. Neither the award’s creator, nor the blogger that nominated you, can be nominated.
  5. At the end of 2020, every blog that ping-backs the creator’s original post will be entered to win the 2020 Outstanding Blogger Award!

The questions I was asked:

  1. How did the Covid-19 affect your life? I am an introvert so I don’t do a lot of socializing except with my small circle of friends… so there has not been a huge change to my life. It is the impulse outings I miss and of course having to wear a mask everywhere, which is a bit of a challenge sometimes with my asthma and anxiety.
  2. What one special thing would you like to do for the world? Me personally… not much I can do for the whole world except do my best to reduce, reuse and recycle.
  3. It’s almost the end of the year, what one thing do you want to accomplish before saying goodbye to 2020? Getting caught up on my reading and posting on WordPress!
  4. What do you look most forward to in 2021? Two things. First a president that lies less frequently and a lot less obviously and the end of the Corona Virus
  5. What is your favorite song of all time? Favorite, just ONE? Musically you have to give a nod to Queen and Prince both ahead of their time. Lyrically “Imagine” has always been a favorite. And growing up I loved the music of Mason Proffitt who had a lot of good things to say in their lyrics. One Love One You will always be number one in my heart as it was the first dance at my wedding. Ok, I will stop there of we will be here all night. Ha, ha!
  6. What one book would you recommend to everyone? There is a book called 29 Gifts: How a month of giving can change your life by Cami Walker. It is inspirational in showing how powerful giving can be to the giver. It is one of my favorite nonfiction books.
  7. What one question would you like to ask me? It is a question I have asked others and no one has been able to give a concrete answer… how do you keep your faith strong when there is so much sickness and ugliness in the world? I just dont understand how a “loving” God can let it all happen.

My questions:

  1. Name a series you would like to see modernized and brought back to television.
  2. Are you a watcher or participant in sports and what kind?
  3. What solo artist or band was the most influential in your opinion and why?
  4. What is your favorite biography that you have read?
  5. Do you enjoy your family size or have you always yearned for another smaller or larger family?
  6. Name one person living or dead you would like to spend an hour talking to.
  7. What is your favorite form of art – painting, sculpture, street art, drawing, etc.?

My nominees:

…Oops, I forgot. I don’t do nominees. I follow all outstanding blogs and I don’t want to leave anyone out. SO, consider yourself nominated and answer some questions if you have the time. Thanks for being so wonderful!

Once more, THANK you Sadje! 😄

Blogger Recognition Award

I want to thank Sadje from Keep It Alive for nominating me for this award. Let’s see about the rules…

The Rules –

  1. Thank the blogger that nominated you and give a link to their site.
  2. Do a post to show your award.
  3. Give a summary of how your blog started.
  4. Give two pieces of advice for any new bloggers.
  5. Select at least 15 other bloggers for this award.
  6. Let each nominee know you’ve nominated them and give a link to your post.

Why I started my blog

I suffer from depression and anxiety and started my blog to try to let some of my emotions out onto the computer screen.  It was really a love of writing and a need for sanity that brought me here.  I dream and use my imagination, but a lot of what I write comes from experience… I think it is better writing when it is honest and built in facts.   It kind of started with little blips of writing and now is mostly a daily challenge for me to write, a discipline like an exercise for my mind and spirit.

My advice

The first bit of advice is to write what you are comfortable writing.  Some people want to show very little of themselves and it may seem forced or not flow right if it is not a familiar and comfortable subject.  While others want to share a lot.  Some people like prompts, some don’t.  Just pick what makes you HAPPY.

My second bit of advice is don’t focus on the numbers too much.  I cannot lie, it is great to get another follower, but often they are just a number and not an active part of your blog – they don’t read, visit or comment on what you write.  Some people only follow you to have you follow them back with only the hope of boosting their numbers.  Numbers don’t matter like the interactions – likes and comments especially.  Have FUN!

Now I am supposed to nominate others… consider yourself nominated if you are reading this. I don’t like the thought of leaving someone out so I just nominate all my readers. Consider yourself notified.

Sunshine Blogger Award Questions

Sadje at Keep It Alive has so kindly nominated me for the Sunshine Blogger Award.  You should really check her blog out. She does poetry, flash fiction and photos… a well rounded blog!  THANK YOU so much Sadje! 😊

The Sunshine Blogger Award is given by bloggers to bloggers who inspire positiveness and creativity in the blogging community.

The rules are:

  • Thank blogger(s) who nominated you and link back to their blog.
  • List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo in your post and/or on your blog.
  • Answer the 11 questions the blogger asked you.
  • Nominate up to 11 new blogs to receive the award, write them 11 new questions and notify them about the nomination.

Sadje’s questions:

  1. What is your favorite time of the day?                                                                                      Probably midafternoon.  I am fully away and have worked out the kinks of the day, I have a little time for myself before my boyfriend is off work and I feel the loneliness that haunts my night.
  2. How strict are you with yourself, regarding health?                                                               I wish stronger… I have a sweet tooth and give in to it far too often.  Exercise has been put on hold during the shut down as I did aqua therapy and the pools are closed.  I would like to lose some weight and be more aware of my food.  I have an app I am starting to use and with any luck my health will improve.
  3. Do you follow back a blogger who follows your blog?                                                             I did when I first started, but learned fast there is only so much time to read.  I will however be more apt to follow back if they are engaged with my blog with commenting.
  4. How do you deal with criticism in real life?                                                                              Better than I used to.  With both anxiety and depression I was at a point where everything was “my fault” even if I had nothing to do with it; that is the nature of the disease.
  5. How do you deal with criticism in the blogging world?                                                           I would love to hear any constructive criticism about my writing… that is how we improve.  Just don’t be a jerk about saying it.
  6. Any ideas about how we can turn the current situation to our advantage?                       Continue to connect more with our immediate circle.  Stay home and play a game together, binge watch something together… don’t put too many priorities in your life ahead of your family time.  Also staying home more would reduce gas consumption and pollution.
  7. Are you a dessert person?                                                                                                          Cake, pie, cookies, brownies, ice cream… yeah I love it all!  And unfortunately it shows!
  8. What colors do you like to wear?                                                                                               Red, purple, black, grey and some green.
  9. What color decor you like around you, in your home?                                                           Blue, green and purple … at least that is the plan.  Right now we are still in process of the kitchen remodel which will be white and blue.
  10. What is your favorite place to write from?                                                                               The comfort of my own recliner.  Preferably with a little music playing.  But I do always have paper and pen with me for when inspiration strikes me.
  11. Do you like getting Blogging awards?                                                                                        Who doesn’t like being recognized.  I am really bad though about narrowing down my followers list to pick the limited number I award, so I open it up to all.  I don’t want to leave anyone out… I wouldn’t be following them if I didn’t like their work.  And answering the questions is fun.

My Questions:

  1. Ok, you write a blog, so do you also play word games of any kind?
  2. Do you have any other type of creative outlet besides writing?  Art, sewing, photography, jewelry making, etc.?
  3. Do you listen to anything while you write or does it need to be quiet?
  4. Are you an avid book reader?
  5. Name a country you would love to visit if the world wasn’t shut down because of the virus.
  6. Have you ever written a poem about someone and gave it to them?
  7. Is there an author (living or dead) that you would love to sit down and talk to for an hour?
  8. Have you ever met a fellow blogger or interacted off WordPress?
  9. Cake or pie?
  10. Coffee or tea?
  11. What is the strangest movie you have ever seen?

This is where I should nominate 11 bloggers… instead I nominate all my followers cause you are all pretty neato and this will be fun to do!  😁

Thanks to Sadje again and to all who join in!  Have a great day! 🌺

Real Neat Award

Sadje at Keep It Alive has nominated me for the new Real Neat Award.  Thanks so much Sadje, sorry it took so long for me to do it.

Let’s jump right in with the rules:

  • Display the award logo
  • Thank the blogger who nominated you and post a link to their blog
  • Answer the questions from the blog who nominated you
  • Nominate seven to ten bloggers
  • Ask them seven questions

Here are Sadje’s questions.

Where does blogging fit in your daily life?  I blog off and on throughout the day as I find time, but most often I do my writing late at night when it is quiet.

Have you ever tried to do:

a) Paragliding No, I have a big fear of falling and there are just little straps keeping me from doing so… no thank you.

b) Horse riding I was on a horses back twice in my youth, but I wouldn’t call it riding.  Would still love to do a trail ride sometime.

c) Deep sea-diving I would be open to the idea… just far away from sharks!

Do you celebrate your birthday? We usually go out to eat and celebrate a little.  After beating breast cancer I look forward to every birthday I can get.

If you have free time at hand, would you go for a walk or a long drive? It would depend on my fibromyalgia.  If I am hurting a lot a walk may be too much.  On a good day though I would easily say a walk.

Your best friend calls in the middle of the night and asks you to meet them at a deserted place, will you go? BTW, this friend has known to pull pranks! Well if it is a BEST friend they would know I suffer from anxiety and then I would trust they would not pull a prank, so yes.

Now I am supposed to nominate people.  I am a rule breaker though, don’t want anyone left out.  So, you are ALL nominated.  Please join in and have some fun!  Now for my questions for all of you.

What is your favorite type of writing (poetry, flash fiction, stream of consciousness)?

If you use prompts, what kind do you like (picture, word, phrase, set number of words, etc)?

What is your favorite pet you have had or want to get?

Since this is close to Halloween, do you like scary movies?

Have you ever seen a movie based on a book that was better than the book?

Do you prefer coffee or tea?

If you listen to it, when do you start to play Christmas music?

Mystery Blogger Award

Sadje of Keep It Alive has nominated me for the Mystery Blogger award.  THANK YOU so much for the nomination.  Be sure to check out her blog!  I am not sure I am up to the standards of the award, but here is why she nominated me…

The Mystery Blogger Award –

“It’s an award for amazing bloggers with ingenious posts. Their blog not only captivates; it inspires and motivates. They are one of the best out there, and they deserve every recognition they get. This award is also for bloggers who find fun and inspiration in blogging, and they do it with so much love and passion.”

Okoto Enigma

  • List the rules
  • Thank whoever nominated you and provide a link to their blog
  • Mention the creator of the award and provide a link as well
  • Answer the 5 questions you were asked

  • Notify your nominees by commenting on their blogs (*consider yourself notified)
  • Ask your nominees any 5 questions of your choice; with one weird or funny question (specify)
  • Share a link to your best post

Sadje’s Questions:

What is the most important thing/ person to you?

Easily my daughter

If you were made the queen of England for a day, what would be the first thing that you would do? ( Funny/ Weird question)

Ask what I should have in the purse I carry… a comedian one said something about what does she need?  ID, most people should know who she is.  Money, who is going to make the Queen pay for anything?  And with all the servants with her all the time what does she “need” to carry.  … always wondered.

Name three things that we need most in today’s world?

PEACE, tolerance for our differences – equality, Trump to be out of office.

Do you believe in fate?

I don’t know… do I believe everything in life is all predestined to happen, no.  But I do occasionally feel there are certain things that were meant to happen.  A friend is meant to come into and sometimes out of your life for a reason for example.

What is your ideal way to spend a holiday?

With family… since my Dad just passed away this year family is smaller now.  I treasure those I still have with me.

3 interesting facts about me:

  1. I was on TV once answering phones for the Children’s Miracle Network telethon.
  2. I have had a total of 8 cats as pets since I was a kid to today and 1 dog.
  3. I had one of my poems turned into lyrics as a song thanks to a musician friend a few years ago.

My questions to all of you:

Would you ever want to be famous with the lack of privacy most celebrities have?

What country would you most like to travel to?

What is your dream home like?

If you could co-write with anyone (blogging world or published author) who would it be?

(weird or funny question) You wake up in a jail cell… what is the crime you just committed?

My nominees:

Each and every one of you beautiful people out there!  🙂

Thanks for playing along.  And once again thanks to Sadje!

Did You Hear The One About The Award

“Attaboy!” she said, as he returned to his seat. He attempted a grin. He had just won an award for excellence in his job. His body language was nothing but disdain.

On the way home she asked what was wrong. He sighed, “This award used to mean something. Now it is just a piece of paper. Two of the winners only know one machine. And the award going to Steve after he has been here three months is crazy.”

He opened the window letting the paper fly away. “They couldn’t even spring for a frame this year. What a joke.”

The Sunshine Blogger Award

I would like to thank Anita from Discovering Your Happiness for nominating me for this award… I am sorry it took me so long to get around to responding.  Anita has some very helpful posts to help you get through some rough times.  Please check out her blog!

Now for this award the rules are

  • Thank the blogger that nominated you.  Thanks again Anita! 🙂
  • Answer the eleven questions asked.
  • Nominate eleven other bloggers.
  • Write a new set of questions for them to answer.
  • List the rules and put the Sunshine Blogger Award logo on your post.

The Sunshine Blogger Award logo

Now for my answers.

  1. Do you have any holidays plans for 2018?  There is nothing planned so far for any travel of any kind.  But we will have a few family holiday gatherings.  I would like to maybe make it to the state park that is fairly close by this spring IF it ever stops snowing.
  2. Where is one place in the world you would love to visit?  Just ONE place?  Wow, I think I would have to say Montana, to see a friend I miss and for my first view of mountains.
  3. Tropical getaway OR Village getaway?  Never been anywhere near an ocean so I would pick tropical at least once.
  4. Do you celebrate Easter? If so, how do you celebrate?  We usually gather with my boyfriends family and watch the kids do an egg hunt and share a nice meal.  And even though my daughter is 23 I still get her a chocolate bunny every year.
  5. What is your favorite color?  Red, but purple and a day-glow green are both a close second.
  6. What is a long-term goal you are heading towards?  This is a tough one… probably the most important one I am working on is accepting my limitations with fibromyalgia, depression and anxiety and finding a place of happiness.
  7. Have you ever conquered any fears?  One I am getting better at… I have a fear of going under a train bridge with a train on it.  I used to RACE underneath it and physically shake when I did.  Now I can drive mostly normal under one and I don’t hardly shudder.
  8. What is your all time favorite hobby?  Hands down rubber stamping and paper crafts to make my own greeting cards.
  9. Are you a writer or a drawer?  I am a writer… and a doodler (is that a word?).  I only wish I could draw.  My daughter is the artist of the family.
  10. Do you keep a journal? If so, does this help you?  There was a time before my diagnosis when I did to try to stay afloat.  Now I write “letters” to my therapist weekly to help pull the bad thoughts out of my mind and it does help.
  11. Sunny days OR rainy cold days?  I do like the rain from time to time, but overall sun wins.  My fibro and depression tends to flare with the rain and that is no fun.

Now this is when I nominate eleven other bloggers.  Nah, how about I nominate a bunch more!  I nominate all my followers who are interested in this award to jump right in and answer my questions (this way I leave no one out).  I am such a rule breaker!  LOL  Seriously you all bring a bit of sunshine to my day so please join in on the fun and don’t forget to link back to me so I can see your answers.

My questions for you.

  1. If you could safely keep any wild animal as a pet what would it be?
  2. Who is one musician (living or dead) that you would love to talk to for an hour?
  3. Who would you pick to play you in a movie?
  4. What is your favorite season of the year?
  5. Spicy or Sweet?
  6. Ever had your writing published?
  7. Write by hand or type?
  8. How long have you been blogging?
  9. Star Trek, Star Wars or neither?
  10. What is your favorite book?
  11. What do you miss most from your childhood?

I hope you have a wonderful day/night!
