Happy and Grateful – Day 1

It was good for me to take part in a challenge last year where I found at least one thing that made me happy everyday for 100 days.  So as the new year begins a new challenge is born.  I will try to balance through happiness and things I am grateful for.  There may be days of struggle but there is always some small happiness and something to be grateful for.

For the start of this challenge I started the year in the best way possible, with my daughter over to ring in the new year with my boyfriend and I.  We played games long past the start of the year at midnight. Then after more of a nap than a nights sleep my daughter and I went shopping for bargains.  Nothing makes me happier than seeing my daughter.  She is a remarkable young lady, but I may be a tad biased.  She makes me happy and I am so grateful we have a good relationship.

It would be great if some of you would take part in this challenge with me.  Please feel free to comment about your happiness and gratitude if you don’t want to commit to a full blog.  This is going to be a great new year full of positives.  (((HUGS)))

Day 99 – 100 Days of Happiness

Today was a day full of errands to run.  But within the never ending go go go I did find a moment of happiness at the craft store.  I went looking for a gift cylinder to “wrap” a craft beer bottle for Christmas and I stumbled on a sale on a couple of supplies I ran out of while making Christmas cards.  I left with 4 things for about $11 … about half price on all of the purchases.  I love to shop like that!

Day 80 – 100 Days of Happiness

I know I mentioned before that my boyfriend had to work on Thanksgiving.  We adapted our dinner to a different day and really didn’t mind too much as we still had a time for family to be together.  The really nice thing though is that because he worked that day he earned a special discount shopping night where instead of saving 10% on purchases he saved 25%.  So we had a long shopping trip tonight stocking up the pantry and buying a few Christmas gifts.  We kept it within our budget and found some good deals.  Shopping is always more fun when you can do it with bargains.  And I am now a few gifts closer to being done with Christmas shopping too.

100 Days of Happiness – Thanksgiving

I once more am putting together two days posts, but they are both regarding Thanksgiving so I guess it works that they are together.

Day 71 – This is the day I tested my brain power.  Used that mental list of what is normal to have on Thanksgiving and hit the store to buy a bird and the fixings.  Thankfully my boyfriend gets a discount where he works and we found a lot of what we needed on sale.  I have had some years where we shopped the wrong store or the wrong time and didn’t hit much for sales.  But since we are not having our family dinner until Monday we could wait until the “last-minute sales” and did really good.  Trying to subtract the extras off the receipt I add up the whole meal to only run about $45 to 50 to feed 4 and have leftovers … I love bargain shopping!!

Day 72 – Today was a very quiet holiday for me with my boyfriend and daughter both working.  But I had a nice day reading and telling my friends and family that I loved them and was thankful they are a part of my life.  Whether in a text message or email I connected with those I care about today and any day I can do that makes me happy.

I hope all of you that celebrated Thanksgiving today had a good day and took a moment to reflect on what you are thankful for.  And anyone planning on shopping in the craziness that is Black Friday sales finds great deals and safely returns home with them. Having worked 20 years in retail I have certainly seen some crazy things happen on Black Friday… but that is a story or two for another time.
