I pick up the brass captain bars

That used to grace your uniform

And remember attaching them

To a fresh uniform for you at night

I grew up thinking you hung the moon

Now as I hold these pins

And think back to the past

I am missing you so much

And long for those innocent days again

Before you were sick and taken from me

A captain for many years

As far back as I can remember

You served this town well
