Happy and Grateful – Day 131

Seven months are gone now and surprisingly I am still plugging along with this challenge to post about my happiness and gratitude every day this year.  August brings the state fair here in Iowa and lots of heat and humidity.  It is the time to see the back to school shopping start with kids dreading it and parents loving it.  As I continue my challenge I hope you will take a minute to reflect on your day too.  You can even share your happiness and gratitude here in the comments or on your own blog.  There is good in every day!

It is very late … or extra early depending on how you look at 4AM.  But we had lots of fun playing cards into the wee hours of the morning.  I laughed and felt honest joy tonight.  I was happy sharing the night with my family and friend.  Now I am trying to wind down to be able to sleep.  My friend is on the couch doing the same.  And my boyfriend was out about 15 minutes after the game ended.

We did have special help with the game…

The rest of the day was pretty mellow.  Spent much of the afternoon talking with my friend and I was grateful she had time on this trip to come over and stay with us.

The cards are put away and the lights are turned down… time to close my eyes.  Remember to find your happiness and feel your gratitude.  Have a good night/day.

Happy and Grateful – Day 230

Seven months are gone now and surprisingly I am still plugging along with this challenge to post about my happiness and gratitude every day this year.  August brings the state fair here in Iowa and lots of heat and humidity.  It is the time to see the back to school shopping start with kids dreading it and parents loving it.  As I continue my challenge I hope you will take a minute to reflect on your day too.  You can even share your happiness and gratitude here in the comments or on your own blog.  There is good in every day!

It was a pretty warm day.  It was supposed to storm maybe tonight, but now the radar looks like it may go past us.  We could sure use the rain… not the storms.  Although I don’t mind the sounds of a distant thunderstorm at all… it is kind of comforting in a strange way.

Today was a busy day.  Errands, shopping and a little more tidying up of the apartment.  I will have company over tomorrow night.  There is a fierce card game battle planned with a friend and my daughter.  So I may not post until Sunday… all depends on how late things run tomorrow night.

I am grateful I was able to get a little cleaning done.  Not floor to ceiling work, but a lot of putting things away that were out on tables and counters.  I have never been a great housekeeper … I tend to be clean but cluttered a lot of the time.  My boyfriend helps out a lot with the clutter too.  One of the things that fibro takes from me is my stamina to do much housework in one day, so that adds to it all as well.

I am trying to decide what was my happiness of the day.  Running errands is not really happy stuff.  Cleaning is not what I call happy either.  But I did get to spend more time with my boyfriend by doing both of those things together.  So I did not feel quite as isolated today and that is something to be happy about.

Ok I will stop babbling for the night and let you move onto another post.  Remember to find your happiness and feel your gratitude.  Have a great night/day!

Happy and Grateful – Day 127

May has arrived and I hope it brings lots of Spring cheer with it.  I am in my fifth month now of taking time to acknowledge the things that make me happy and grateful every day… almost half way to my goal of a full year.  If you want to join in on this challenge please add your thoughts in the comments or start your own blog.  There is a lot to be happy and grateful for!

Day two of the vacation and it was another lovely day.  We had an exciting afternoon (insert sarcasm font here)… we took pop cans back for redemption.  The collection here had taken over the closet and was way over due to go back to the store.  We managed to get enough back that it cut our shopping trip down to half price basically.

We did enjoy a little walk though to get our dinner.  I had a gift card from Christmas still for Subway and there is one about a block away, so we had a little time in the fresh air.

So I was happy to find the floor in the closet once again. And grateful for a good meal and a nice walk to get it.

… there was also another heated battle of cards tonight.  This time we played two games of Canasta.  Each won one, so we have to have the tie breaker tomorrow.  Vacation has been alright so far!

Today was another day of fresh air and sunshine.  Didn’t get to spend much time in it, but admired it from afar I guess you could say.  Our original plans of checking out the first farmers market of the season fell apart when we slept through the alarm clock… oops!  So it ended up being much more of a quiet day and my boyfriend even took a couple of hours nap.

We did venture out to get some dinner and grabbed a sandwich for my Dad’s dinner too.  It was pretty amazing how quiet the streets seemed for a Saturday night, maybe everyone was still home finishing yard work?

I was happy we tried to carry on with our weekly card games we have played the last two weekends.  Since it was just my boyfriend and I we did a couple of games of cribbage.  Maybe we will try canasta next time.

I was happy to have another weekend that included some time away from computers to play cards.  I was grateful to hear the birds singing another beautiful day’s songs.

Happy and Grateful – Day 120

We have reached the month of April and I am still on course to post daily with my happiness and gratitude I have found.  Please join in if you feel like doing this too by sharing in the comments or on your own blog.  There is so much to be happy and grateful for.

Another day of rain… cold rain.  There are puddles all over.  We had to go to the store and got pretty wet just walking in.  But no worries… I am not so sweet I will melt LOL.

Once again I am posting late…played cards last night one more time before my friend gets ready to return to Georgia.  We laughed and trash talked each other and it was a very close game ending with only 20 points separating first and (tied) second place.  I am glad the three of us had a good night before sending my friend off on her way home.

I was happy to share the laughter with a dear friend.  I am so grateful for the time we had to spend with her these last two weekends.

I am getting too old for this…  last night it was just my friend, boyfriend and myself that stayed up late playing card games.  I have napped twice trying to catch up.  Of course part of that may be the fact I have finally managed to catch the cold my boyfriend had last week, UGH!  So it has been a very lazy day.  As a matter of fact my boyfriend is now napping too.

Yes, another night of Shanghai Rummy – a 10 hand card game.  It was not as late as we only played one game not two, but it was still into the AM hours.  I still didn’t win, but it is all about having fun and that I did.  I was happy to play a favorite game again and grateful I was surrounded by special people in my life for another night.  We’ll see what tonight holds “in the cards”  …  tee hee!

Day 41 – 100 Days of Happiness

Tonight was another hard-fought battle.  My daughter, boyfriend and I all played a couple of card games, laughed and had a very nice evening.  I did not have luck on my side tonight, and my daughter came out the winner of both games.  We played a game called Loonacy, which is similar to the card game War only with matching pictures instead of numbers.  Then we traveled down the highway of Mille Bornes.  We trash talked each other and laughed a lot.  Now at half past 3 in the morning it is way past time to settle down and try to get some sleep… but it was well worth the time together!
