Monochrome Monday – Peaceful

This week my cat takes the spotlight.  She is the hardest cat to get to sit still for a picture.  She knows the second that camera or phone is in your hand and she moves.  In this one she was curled up on my lap next to my laptop.  I hope you all have a great week!  (((HUGS)))

Happy and Grateful – Day 315

November brings a chill in the air and the start of the holiday gatherings of family and friends.  I can’t believe I am down to the last two month of my challenge to find happiness and feel gratitude every day.  I hope you join with me in the comments or your own blog in this challenge.  No matter how small there is always a little good in even the worst day.

It was a little warmer today but we still were stuck in the clouds.  Tonight there is a cold rain.  I am still fighting my depression.  Tried to write some of it out this afternoon and that helped some.  The damp air is not helping my fibro but this too shall pass.

I had a pretty quiet afternoon but I did play some music to try to help me out of my mood.  I listened to some music online and I am grateful I have access to so much music.  It doesn’t cure anything but it can soothe a troubled mind some.

My happiness from the day came from having my cat cuddle with me today.  It seems more often now she “knows” when I am feeling down and will jump in my lap to sleep and purr.  I still miss my other cat terribly on days like this.  He was my shadow and was always there for me, but the princess is learning.

I need to try to make this an early night, plans for tomorrow morning.  Remember to find your happiness and feel your gratitude.  Have a wonderful night/day!

Happy and Grateful – Day 300

The month of October is upon us.  Fall is in full swing with the leaves gathering on the lawn… maybe a pile or two to run through even.  The evenings are getting dark earlier as the days grow shorter.  And a few of us look forward to a good scare with Halloween coming this month.  Everyday has at least some small portion of good in it.  I am looking for that good with this challenge to find my happiness and gratitude every day.  Join in with the challenge by commenting or writing your own blog… let’s find some goodness today.

I can’t believe it is day 300… I have made it this far the last 65 days should be a breeze.  I thank all of you who are still trudging through these days with me.  I hope I haven’t bored you too much!

Tonight I sit here watching Hocus Pocus trying to reflect on the day.  It was a sore one with the cold weather bringing more aches and pains.  I had to take a pain pill tonight so I hope I make it through this post without falling asleep.

Today’s happiness is a little hard for me.  My depression had me feeling very withdrawn today.  I think the grey skies matched my grey mood.  But there is always some happiness and I would have to say today it was my cat being a little cuddle bug and sleeping with me a good portion of the day.  I think it was because of the cooler weather she just wanted my body heat… LOL.

It was a pretty low-key day.  I did get to my craft desk and worked on a card for a friend.  It is always good to work on cards and I was grateful to get a little ink on my hands.  Hopefully the card will bring a smile to my friend’s face.

I need to post this and maybe read a little more before I go to sleep.  Remember to find your happiness and feel your gratitude.  Have a good night/day!

Happy And Grateful – Days 268 & 269

The kids are all in school, there is a growing crisp in the air.  Football games and shorter days fill the weeks.  It is September.  I have accomplished another month of acknowledging my happiness and gratitude every day.  Join me as I continue my goal of one year on this journey.  Please join in with your happiness and gratitude in the comments or your own blog post.  No matter how bad the day is there is always something worthwhile in the day.

Sorry about the double up post but I needed a day to “recover” from the last few days and kind of crashed right after birthday celebrations Monday night.  I did do the daily prompt this morning … better late than never.

The post for last night is easy too.  I am grateful for that night 23 years ago when I went into labor and finally had my beautiful daughter who forever changed my life. And the happiness was of course sharing her birthday with her.  It was going to be her and her boyfriend, but considering he worked about 14 hours he wasn’t up to visiting.  She enjoyed her gifts and we had a nice dinner at Texas Roadhouse.

Today was about recovery.  Some stretching for my aches and pains, muscle relaxers tonight, and a nap or two along the way.  I would really like to take it easy this week, but have to take my Dad to a doctor’s appointment tomorrow and Thursday is my yearly mammogram – and even though I am 14 years past the cancer, I still dread what they might find again.

So tonight I started my posting early to hopefully get it all in before either my mind turns to mush from the meds or the fatigue wins out.  My cat is currently “helping” me write by cleaning my left hand as I type…she is such a mama cat always licking and cleaning me and my boyfriend.  Makes me feel sad we took away her ability to have kittens.  I would say this is one of those sweet moments of the day with her that can be considered my happiness for the day.

Now the gratitude comes from a break from Mother Nature.  The weather has returned to more seasonable temperatures and we were able to open windows up again today.  It looks like we will have a few days of fall before the warm air is set to return once again.  I am listening to the crickets serenading me outside my window… almost as good as bird song.

Well I am off to clear out some of my email and then get some sleep.   Remember to find your happiness and feel your gratitude.  Have a good night/day!

Happy and Grateful – Day 241

Seven months are gone now and surprisingly I am still plugging along with this challenge to post about my happiness and gratitude every day this year.  August brings the state fair here in Iowa and lots of heat and humidity.  It is the time to see the back to school shopping start with kids dreading it and parents loving it.  As I continue my challenge I hope you will take a minute to reflect on your day too.  You can even share your happiness and gratitude here in the comments or on your own blog.  There is good in every day!

I did it again… the fatigue got the better of me for the second night in a row and I fell asleep in the middle of posting.  Forgive me for being a little late again.

It was a somewhat busy day.  I had energy to get a little laundry done and I was grateful for that.  I wrapped the gifts for my sister and took them over to my Dads house.  Picked up my boyfriend and then later went back across town to get dinner for my Dad.  It was not a lot but it seemed like I was moving a lot of the day.

Now as I sit here a day later I struggle with my memory as far as what was a happy moment.  I would have to say a frustrating but cute moment… my cat “helped” me wrap my sisters large cutting mat.  She sat right in the middle of it while I taped the edges.  It was funny so that would have to be my happy moment of the day.

Now I am running late to go pick up my Dad for his coffee group so I must run.  Find your happiness and feel your gratitude.  Have a good day/night!

Happy and Grateful – Day 233

Seven months are gone now and surprisingly I am still plugging along with this challenge to post about my happiness and gratitude every day this year.  August brings the state fair here in Iowa and lots of heat and humidity.  It is the time to see the back to school shopping start with kids dreading it and parents loving it.  As I continue my challenge I hope you will take a minute to reflect on your day too.  You can even share your happiness and gratitude here in the comments or on your own blog.  There is good in every day!

Another week is underway and it started out with a lot of Mother Nature… an eclipse, clouds and rain.  It was also the last day of my boyfriend’s vacation.  Now it is back to waking up early and making his lunch.  But only until he can find a car we can afford to buy.  He has spent most of his vacation on the computer “window shopping” for something in the area.  With any luck by the end of the week we can find a new car for him.  Then the last week of August I can sleep in again!

Today’s word prompt challenge was a little bit tougher than normal.  All I could think of is the cat of an old friend of mine who is named Lurch.  He has difficulty walking and he literally lurches from side to side.  But no matter how I tried, I could not come up with a poem to do him justice.  But it did bring back good memories of time spent with my friend and her fur babies and that made me happy.

I was grateful today to be a witness (by way of TV only) to the wonders of Mother Nature.  It too brought back memories of making shadow boxes in school to take home and use to see the 1979 eclipse.  Even with the clouds today it did get darker and it was neat to see others across the country who were able to witness the phenomenon.

I should try to sleep so I am ready to be awake bright and early tomorrow.  Remember to find your happiness and feel your gratitude.  Have a good night/day!
