She came with a dog; she didn’t even ask. She just brought him into my house like she owned the place. I have cats. They don’t particularly like dogs. Thank goodness he is a little dog. The cats are bigger and rule the house still. It is not that I dislike dogs; he is a cute little fur ball. It is the lack of respect to my feelings and ultimately the feelings of my cats. So far, no major squabbles. He does try to eat the cat’s food occasionally but just give him a bone treat and he is happy.

I write anywhere and everywhere. I always have paper with me or my notepad on my phone. But for my blogging time I am always in my recliner with my laptop. Usually a cat laying somewhere on the chair or me. I have something to drink close by. Often a music channel on for background inspiration and any notes I have made up to the time of writing. A lot of my writing comes to me in a rush. Then I edit. On a few rare occasions I have written and felt it needed no rewrites, but that doesn’t happen often. And I am probably wrong about it not needing the editing done to it, but I like it or I don’t publish. Speaking of publishing… it is that time. And off to the next word prompt.
(This is a rare picture of me… I feel a little like the neighbor Wilson on Home Improvement with something always hiding my face. I really do hate to have my picture taken. But this picture makes me smile… sadly the middle cat is gone and the top cat is very sick but they are all in my heart)
She had been thinking about adopting a pet but had yet to stop and see what they had at the local animal shelter. On a whim she turned down Fifth street to stop in and look.
Stepping into the office she saw a basset hound sleeping on a pillow in the corner. She approached the receptionist who was petting a tabby cat behind the desk. “Can I see the cats for adoption?”
“Certainly, we are at capacity for cats. We need to make room. Were you looking for a cat or a kitten? We have a pair of adorable siblings that are 3 years old that have surmounted a lot of past abuse to becomes some of the gentlest cats I have ever seen.”
“Can I see them?”
“Sure, follow me.”
They walked down a hallway into a large room full with cages of cats and kittens. “Here we are. The tuxedo cat is Mr. Tennison and his sister is Emily.”
Falling in love instantly with the way the two of them were cuddled up next to each she was sold. And within twenty minutes the cats were on the way home with her.

This is February and I am well on my way to attaining a goal I set for myself. I am trying to post every day with happiness and gratitude that I have encountered that day. There is always something no matter how small it may seem that we can be grateful for and even just a shared smile can make you happy if only for a moment. Please try to find those moments for yourself too… if you’re up to it I would love if you would share them too in the comments or your own blog. Being aware can really turn a day around!
I know I have mentioned my cat before… but I really love cats and kittens. I was watching the news last night and saw a story on a website that has a camera on a group of kittens. It is from The Icelandic Cat Protection Society and when I first looked at it very early in the morning there were three kittens sleeping away. Later today I went back and found 5 kittens at play. It is so much fun to watch the kitty cam capture them at play or even sleeping – cats are just cute all the time. If you would like to see the cats they are at Keeping Up With the Kattarshians. I believe you can also find it on YouTube as well.
I am happy looking at those little balls of fluff. And grateful I picked last night to watch the news cast. I smiled and laughed and felt alright today with the kitties to keep me entertained for a while. Do you have an animal that always makes you smile?
