It was just a word game. What harm could be had by accepting a game with another player. She started by playing M-O-V-I-E landing the E on a double word square. She waited for him to take his turn. As she began thinking of a word to tie into his V-A-N-E the message bubble came up. She took her turn and responded to his hello.
More games followed and he began to tell her such nice things. He loved her profile picture, she was so sweet, smart, funny… the list seemed to be endless. Needless to say, she kind of liked the attention, but told him it was just friends playing a game.
By day three of playing off and on he wanted to chat outside of the game. She did not but he persuaded her. They used instant messenger and he began to shower her with more compliments asked her all sorts of questions about her day. She believed she was making a friend.
Then one day he said he needed some help. His car was out of commission, and he needed to order a few things online but couldn’t get to the store to pick up an Amazon gift card… would she please send him one for five hundred dollars?
All the bells and whistles went off. She had heard of scams using gift cards and instantly became leery of him. She made excuses for why she couldn’t, and he kept saying how he would pay her back and he would be so grateful. But she was not born yesterday, and she would not be bamboozled. She told him no and then never responded to any additional game requests. Lesson learned.

July brings fireworks, picnics, pools and air conditioning. It is a time for those of us in the USA to celebrate our “birthday” and a personal time for me to celebrate life. It is hot and humid days and thunderstorms cooked up at night. I am continuing my challenge to find happiness and gratitude in every day. Join along in the comments or on your own blog. There is always good in every day.
I am a little unsure of this post. I just did my daily prompt post and on my site it is black ink on a grey background instead of the usual white. I didn’t do anything different. So… I hope those of you reading this through my blog page and not the reader are able to see the words ok.
Today was not too bad for a summer day. It was in the 80s and not too humid. That is all supposed to change starting tomorrow though. It was a moderate pain day for me. The errands yesterday really took it out of me I guess. I also managed to jam my thumb yesterday and it is killing me to grip anything. But it is not swollen so I am sure it is just one of those pains I have to wait out.
I did get to chat with a friend online today and that made me happy. We haven’t been able to get together for a while now but maybe this next week we can, It all depends on how we are feeling.
Due to a very short night of sleep last night I was simply grateful for my Keurig machine today and its steady supply of caffeine for me today. The last cup has begun to wear off and I am getting droopy eyes so I will keep this short.
Remember to always look for the happiness in your day. Have a good weekend everybody!
