Happy and Grateful – Day 277

The month of October is upon us.  Fall is in full swing with the leaves gathering on the lawn… maybe a pile or two to run through even.  The evenings are getting dark earlier as the days grow shorter.  And a few of us look forward to a good scare with Halloween coming this month.  Everyday has at least some small portion of good in it.  I am looking for that good with this challenge to find my happiness and gratitude every day.  Join in with the challenge by commenting or writing your own blog… let’s find some goodness today.

Today was another busy day.  I took Dad to his coffee group.  I was surprised he was up to going but he did pretty good walking in to the table.  Maybe some of the worst pain is past for him now.  I can always hope!  Then I had to pick up some prescriptions. I have been without my inhaler for a while now because I kept forgetting to call the refill in.  I am grateful I am restocked now.

My boyfriend wanted some Mexican food tonight so we went to a local restaurant that is always good.  I picked up some food for my Dad and dropped off his dinner.  Then was happy to be home where I could put my feet up and relax finally.  It seems I have been on the go for a full week now… I am exhausted.

More errands tomorrow so I should post this so I can get some sleep.  Remember to find your happiness and feel your gratitude.  Have a good night/day!

Happy and Grateful – Day 242

Seven months are gone now and surprisingly I am still plugging along with this challenge to post about my happiness and gratitude every day this year.  August brings the state fair here in Iowa and lots of heat and humidity.  It is the time to see the back to school shopping start with kids dreading it and parents loving it.  As I continue my challenge I hope you will take a minute to reflect on your day too.  You can even share your happiness and gratitude here in the comments or on your own blog.  There is good in every day!

The words are not here.  I have started to describe today about a dozen times and keep back spacing over it so I am just going to go for it and keep what comes to mind this time.  I am sitting here watching How To Lose A Guy In 10 Dates again… it is a cute movie.  I feel like it has been a long day and I got nothing done.

It was Wednesday so it was coffee day for my Dad.  We sat and visited with his former coworkers for about an hour and a half.  We got there a little late as I had fallen back asleep after I took my boyfriend to work, and managed to over sleep.  But we still managed to grab a couple of seats and chat.  It does make me happy that I can take my Dad to see his friends still.

Then I had to go and get my boyfriend after work.  Getting home it felt good to put my feet up and relax a bit.  I actually almost drifted off to sleep then too.  All the fatigue the last couple of days must be the start of a flare.  If that is the case I am grateful I don’t have much going on the next few days.

I have accomplished what I set out to do… sorry it was a little disjointed tonight, I’m just not feeling it.  Maybe a better night’s sleep will turn things around for me.  Remember to find your happiness and feel your gratitude.  Have a good night/day!

Yesterday’s activities left me very fatigued today.  I napped twice and almost a third time.  Just about missed my doctor appointment because I couldn’t wake up to my alarms… ended up about 15 minutes late.  But I made it through the day and I am now winding down for the night.

Today’s gratitude… coffee.  Without that little boost I think I would have slept more.  Some coffee with a little french vanilla creamer hit the spot after I got back from the doctor visit.

My boyfriend and I have been watching a series on Netflix called Dark Matter.  We are winding up the second season.  I was happy to watch a couple more episodes with him tonight.  It kept me awake almost as good as the coffee earlier.

I need more sleep now.  Keep finding your gratitude and happiness every day.  Have a good night/day!

Happy and Grateful – Day 195

July brings fireworks, picnics, pools and air conditioning. It is a time for those of us in the USA to celebrate our “birthday” and a personal time for me to celebrate life. It is hot and humid days and thunderstorms cooked up at night. I am continuing my challenge to find happiness and gratitude in every day. Join along in the comments or on your own blog. There is always good in every day.

I am a little unsure of this post.  I just did my daily prompt post and on my site it is black ink on a grey background instead of the usual white.  I didn’t do anything different.  So… I hope those of you reading this through my blog page and not the reader are able to see the words ok.

Today was not too bad for a summer day.  It was in the 80s and not too humid.  That is all supposed to change starting tomorrow though.  It was a moderate pain day for me.  The errands yesterday really took it out of me I guess.  I also managed to jam my thumb yesterday and it is killing me to grip anything.  But it is not swollen so I am sure it is just one of those pains I have to wait out.

I did get to chat with a friend online today and that made me happy.  We haven’t been able to get together for a while now but maybe this next week we can,  It all depends on how we are feeling.

Due to a very short night of sleep last night I was simply grateful for my Keurig machine today and its steady supply of caffeine for me today.  The last cup has begun to wear off and I am getting droopy eyes so I will keep this short.

Remember to always look for the happiness in your day.  Have a good weekend everybody!

Happy and Grateful – Day 165

June brings warmer weather and the start of summer.  Hopefully it brings many ideas from my muse too.  I continue to write for my challenge to find the things that make me happy and grateful each day this year.  Please feel free to join me in this challenge with comments about your happiness and gratitude or start your own blog.  There is always something good to find in each day.

It was a super humid day.  It rained this morning just enough to make it very muggy.  At least it was about 5 degrees cooler today… not much, but it helped.  I took my Dad to his regular coffee group and just sat back and listened to the stories (and a little BS) fly.  There has been talk of the cafe they meet at in changing to a full service dinning restaurant.  It would not settle well with the gentlemen who are set in their ways.  I am grateful no change has taken place yet.

I then met with my daughter for a late lunch.  Got to hear the problems of the week at work for her.  As always though it made me happy to see her.  And according to a post on Facebook… the more time you spend with your mom the longer she lives.  I am glad she extended my life today.  🙂

Happy and Grateful – Day 151

May has arrived and I hope it brings lots of Spring cheer with it.  I am in my fifth month now of taking time to acknowledge the things that make me happy and grateful every day… almost half way to my goal of a full year.  If you want to join in on this challenge please add your thoughts in the comments or start your own blog.  There is a lot to be happy and grateful for!

Another beautiful spring day.  It was pretty uneventful.  Took my Dad to his coffee group and visited with them for an hour and a half.  I am glad my Dad still goes to that and sees some of his old friends.  He doesn’t get out much since he can’t drive.  I am happy to take him to see his friends.

Tonight was spent with the computer and then my boyfriend and I watched the start of a new series for us… Banshee.  I can see it has potential to be pretty good.  Then we tried something new before he went to bed.  He read about a green smoothie that is supposed to help you lose weight.  I have had a couple of green smoothies that were pretty good so I thought I would give it a try with him.  It is pretty heavy on the cilantro and has kind of a kick to it, but I drank it all.  I know with the fruit and veggies in it, it can’t be bad for us.  I just hope it does some good.  I am grateful that he found an easy recipe to try for a little while to see if it works.

I have a morning appointment tomorrow so I should head off to dreamland.  Here’s hoping I hear one of my four alarms I set to try to wake up on time… sad but true.  LOL

Happy and Grateful – Day 18

I have undertaken a challenge this year.  I am trying to find the good in every day by writing about happiness and gratitude that I feel.  No matter how small there is always something to bring a smile or make you grateful, if just for a moment.  Follow along with me as I dig deep as necessary and find the peace of the day.  Join in if you are feeling happy and grateful too – in the comments or on your own blog.  Let’s find some fun!

My Dad worked for the city police for over 40 years.  Every Wednesday he and several other retired police and city workers meet for a cup of coffee and some conversation.  When his hip got bad and he could no longer drive he missed out.  With a little give and take he has started going to those coffees again as long as I accompany him.  My anxiety makes it a challenge some days… I know a lot of these people but not well.  I am not really in the conversations much but it makes me happy to see him laugh and have a little fun each week.  I am grateful most weeks I can push through the anxiety and get him there.  He did so much for me as a child I am glad I can return the favor some.

Day 88 – 100 Days of Happiness

I almost overslept and missed it… oops!  I have mentioned before I am not much of a morning person.  I woke up when my boyfriend got up this morning to go to work, but I fell back asleep.  I woke up at about 10am and found a message on my phone.  The two friends I was going to meet for lunch at noon wanted to get together earlier if possible because of the snow coming in.  I got ready in less that an hour and slid through the streets to get there in time.  I was only about 15 min late… a norm for me.  LOL

But it was so nice once I got there.  I worked with both of these ladies for many years and don’t get to see them often enough.  One of them was treating all of us to lunch for Christmas.  She is such a sweetie … they both are.  I would be lost without friends to unwind with on occasion.  We talked, laughed, ate too much and drank way too much coffee but it was still fun.  And the bonus… the snow had stopped by the time we were finally done catching up!
