‘Tis The Season

Stop
Don’t cough
Stifle that sneeze
The flu is spreading
Germs are crawling nearly everywhere
Wash your hands again and again
Don’t shake that man’s hand when meeting
Unless you have some hand sanitizer that’s near
Beware of the elevator buttons you touch
For God’s sake wash that phone
Look out for door knobs
Colds are in season
Cover your mouth
Breathe easy
Sleep

Happy and Grateful – Day 364

One of my favorite months is upon us. I love the wonder of the holidays.  How it can light up young and old alike.  The weather is (usually) starting to change the world white and frosty.  And the promise of a new year is just around the corner.  This is the final month of my attempt to find the things that make me happy and grateful every day for a year… I have mixed emotions that it will be ending.  Please join me these last few days and post your happiness and gratitude in the comments or on your own blog.  There is always some good in the day no matter how small.

Next to last day… and as a side note, I may be late on my last post.  My daughter will be here for a night of games so it not only is going to be waiting for midnight, but also waiting to see who wins the battle.  LOL

Today was bitter cold.  The furnace has run almost nonstop and it still feels a bit cooler in here.  But that is winter in Iowa.  Tomorrow is supposed to be the coldest day with possible record-breaking lows.  I am grateful to have the warmth and comfort of a home… I know they said on the news the homeless shelters were full tonight.

I did get to come closer to being caught up with my reading on WordPress.  If I make it much later after I post this I hope to read more.  I am happy I found the time to read today.

One last call for ideas on what I could do this next year now that my Happy and Grateful is nearly done.  I am pretty sure I still want to post nearly every day… I would be lost without my writing.  Any ideas?

Ok… time to dim the lights and read myself to sleep.  Remember to find you happiness and feel your gratitude.  Have a wonderful night/day and PLEASE celebrate New Years Eve smart… don’t drink and drive!

Today was a quiet day.  I tried to get closer to caught up on my email in the quiet of the afternoon.  It is not a major accomplishment but it was something that needed to be done and I am happy I accomplished just that.

I am still dealing with a cough and fatigue from this cold.  I was a little bit better today, but still not back to 100%.  I have to say I am grateful for my Albuterol inhaler.  I hate to think where I would be without it.  All I can say is I will be glad when this is all cleared up.

The nighttime meds are starting to work their magic so I should close my eyes.  Remember to find your happiness and feel your gratitude.  I hope you have a wonderful night/day!

Frosted Day

(I did not have the daily prompt set to email me and somehow missed a post this week … so here is my late post for crisp.  I figured with the heat that is popping up (at least here it is) we could all use a reminder of the other side of things.)

The frosted grass was crisp

With every step she took

Her breath producing a mist

Before her cooling lips

The trees held tight to frost

As a toddler holds a blanket

The winter wonderland reflected brightly

On this chilly early winter morning

Happy and Grateful – Day 117

We have reached the month of April and I am still on course to post daily with my happiness and gratitude I have found.  Please join in if you feel like doing this too by sharing in the comments or on your own blog.  There is so much to be happy and grateful for.

Well the forecast for today kind of fell apart… well it was too little sun, too late.  When I was out and hoping to hit the park it was still grey and gloomy and barely 40°F.  So I didn’t get my trip to the park but by about 5 pm the sun started to shine and it did warm up a little bit, but not much.

My sinuses were a little more bothersome today, but with allergy season upon us I fight that right along with the cold.  I heard back from one of my friends I emailed and got a short text from a friend.  Sometimes it is just nice to know there are others out there that might be thinking of you… or maybe that is just me.

So today was another pretty calm day.  I did however fix a problem on my Dad’s computer so that is taken care of.  I am happy I got that done.  I am grateful for the friends who “talked” to me today in text and email.  Helps to not feel quite so alone during the day.  Now it is time for a glass of orange juice and some sleep.  Good night all!

I am still enduring my cold…. I do think it is better tonight than last night though.  I have napped off and on today.  And feel my posts are sub par so please bear with me while I get through this cold.

I am going for the basics tonight.  I am happy I had nothing to do today.  I am grateful I like the things that help get me better – vitamin C and my echinacea tea.  Time for sleep now… zzz zz zzzzz zzzzzzzzzzz

(oops didn’t push the publish button LOL)

Happy and Grateful – Day 113

It wasn’t quite as late of a night last night, but late enough to keep me from writing.  And to be honest it was more the way I felt that kept the muse away.  I have official gotten the cold my boyfriend had.  Spent a lot of the night coughing and sneezing instead of snoozing.  But I think the worst of it is past now.  I am drinking my echinacea tea and am getting my vitamin C from clementines to try to make it pass quickly.

Last night was one more night of having my friend over for the night.  We took it easy and just watched a movie and talked.  It looks like she is going to be headed back to Georgia soon instead of staying here.  I hope it is the right decision for her as she left due to many problems she had there.  I can’t make the decision for her though so I have to trust she knows what she is doing.

I have had the fortune of spending the whole weekend with her.  It made me happy to have her here with us.  I am grateful we were able to help her out with a place to stay as she begins to transition back to her life down South.  I will miss her when she is gone, but she does have family here and will visit… plus there is always an invitation for us to go down there to visit her.

(Please forgive any foggy thoughts and typos… I am typing with cold medicine in me,  LOL)
