Tipping the Scales

Up and down

Round and round

I feel I am going

Back and forth nonstop

From good to bad

And all around again

I fall down the rabbit hole

Never reaching the other side

Lost in a limbo of patterns

Never ending conflicts

Making my life a battleground

It is tipping to one side now

As pain and loneliness takes over

I am not even sure

What I am fighting for

I just know I want my life back

To be within my control

I must steady myself

To this sudden imbalance

And find the strength

To be whole again

Control

I am lost and alone

Searching for any hope

You have weaved your web

To trap me in isolation

You alienate me from everything

Taking away any contact

Just so you can control

What I say and do

But I have news for you

I am stronger than you think

And I will fight back

Climbing out of this

Endless black hole I’m in

And one day you may find

I have reached the light of day

And walked right out of your control

Control

The glass shattered against the wall. She wasn’t aiming at him, but she was imagining she was throwing things at him.  He said, “Baby, it was just once.  I swear she means nothing to me.  I promise it will never happen again.”

She responded with another glass crashing into the wall to his right.  “I don’t even remotely believe that.”  She held her head high and said, “Today is your day of reckoning.  Today the world learns the liar that you are.”

“What are you going to do?”

“You’re ‘sweet thing’ from last week called looking for you and we had a nice long talk.  I know your hangout and, as we speak, my friend the bartender has put up a little flyer about you in the woman’s restroom.  Every woman will know you are just a con man.”

“Baby you don’t have a clue.  I already spent most of your bank account.”

“Yeah, but I will tell you about the account I have at another bank I have been keeping from you.  I knew weeks ago you were fooling around.  I have taken steps to control the situation.”

“You can’t control me, bitch.”

“But I already have.”

She walked out of the room, passing the hired man who was entering the room on cue.

Losing Control (FOWC)

There was a time
That I would have jumped
The minute you said to
There was a time
When I believed in you
When you were still unsure
There was a time
When the future looked bright
When we had little to show

Those days are gone
You have lost control
And I can’t stand the pain anymore
Those days are gone
You lie so much
And I can’t find peace anymore
Those days are gone
You spew hate
And I can’t feel love anymore

Take a deep breath

Focus in on one object

Breathe even

In and out…

Be still

In and out…

Stay focused

In and out…

Become part of the object –

A person in a painting

A statue frozen in time

A cloud in the sky.

In and out…

You now have control

Anxiety will not win

In and out…

You are the master of your heartbeat

You can control your lungs

In and out…

Slowly back to reality

Your eyes on all the world around

In and out…

Remember your mantra

“Breathe in,

Breathe out,

Smile.”
