He was her superior, her boss of three years. She however had been with the company twelve years. She stood there stunned by what she had heard. Did he really just ask her to head up the Jefferson account with the firm? It was one of the biggest accounts they had and usually fell to the partners of the firm. She was at a loss for words. “Did you hear me Allison? I want you to handle the Jefferson account. Do you think you are up to it?”
She tried to regain her composer and cleared her throat, “Don’t one of the partners usually run that?”
“Well Benson was in charge, but he took an early retirement. If you can handle this, you just might make partner by the end of the year.”
Allison came back to reality and replied in a more confident voice, “Yes, Mr. Klein, I would be honored to head up the Jefferson account.”
“Good, you have a meeting with him in three hours. I hope that is enough time for you to get prepared?”
“Plenty of time sir. Thank you.” And with that Allison took another step up the corporate ladder.
