Fandango’s Flashback Friday – Long Live Rock and Roll

It is time to look back in the archive files and find a post from this date in another year and reshare it for FFF. This week I am going back to the heart of the pandemic in 2020. And with a few tickets already purchased for the coming months I am happy this was all in my head!

Long Live Rock and Roll

Four kids surrounded their grandfather as he began to speak from behind his mask.  “Back when I was a kid we used to go to something called a concert.  The singer wouldn’t be on a screen somewhere, they would be on a stage in front of thousands of fans that were all packed tightly in the same building.   And nobody wore masks.”

The children seemed appalled and hands went up to their masks and the younger girl said, “But what about the epidemic?”

“This was back before all the deadly viruses had been exposed to the public.   We would yell and scream and sing along with the music.  There was sometimes even dancing going on.  The lights would flash bright colors and the sound would echo through the auditorium.  Each new song would whip the fans into a hysterical frenzy of more screaming and clapping and stomping their feet.  It was a rush like no other.”

“Grandpa,” the oldest boy said.  “Would that ever happen now?”

“No John, there are just too many deadly diseases being spread around.  It all started with Covid-19 and we have been masked and mostly isolated ever since.”

Keep Trying

It’s been a bad day

It’s been a bad week

Let’s just skip ahead

It’s been a bad year

Covid has held us hostage

Barricaded in our own homes

Afraid of grocery stores

Because so few wear a mask right

It they wear one at all

But hope is around the corner

A light in the darkness

Vaccines are upon us

All you have to do

Is schedule an appointment

If you can figure out how

When appointments are always full

Keep searching and hit that refresh

Sooner or later you must get in

*just a quick note… life is getting to me and I have not been writing like I should. I am still going to attempt to unofficially do the A to Z April Challenge. So in a perfect world I will have two post every day… plus what I can write to catch up with the daily prompts. Thanks for sticking with me. (((HUGS)))

“Are you really feeling that way?  Like you might snap at the next customer?”

“Yes, I am so sick of Covid and their insistence that they are fine without a mask or the fact most of them don’t know how to wear them right.  Then they ask me to wipe down the register… if they were really that concerned about it, they would wear their damn masks.”

“Listen, don’t jeopardize your job over a bunch of idiots.  Just keep wearing your mask and staying as far away as you can.  This can’t last forever.”

“It feels like it already has.”

Don’t Go Shopping With Him

Janie looked at her husband with disgust.  “Why do you insist on being so obnoxious when we go shopping?  What you said to that poor girl was way out of line.  She was just doing her job.”

“I am so sick of masks and being told I have to wear them when I go out.  It makes me so claustrophobic. The president says it will be over soon and besides, we are not in one of those hot spot states.”

“Do you know why we are not a hot spot?”

“Because the rona doesn’t like us?” Jon said with a smile.

“No, because out community followed the scientist’s recommendations not the president’s.  And we have been wearing masks all along.”

“Fine, I won’t bitch at the person guarding the door anymore.”

“Thank you!”
