Endless Hours

He was diligent in his duties

Working night and day

He punched the clock

For his eight hours

Then went home for more

Filling in where she couldn’t

Unable to help anymore

She laid on the bed

Distraught and in pain

Feeling her life was over

Since cancer had entered her body

He did all he could to help

The chores and meals

She just cried for hours

Feeling like half a woman

He told her he loved her

And did all he could

Would his love be enough

To conquer this battle

And bring back his wife

Or would the enemy win

Destroying true love from within
