Impossible Dream

She was in love with him

Had been for years

But she knew she didn’t have a chance

It was a hopelessly impossible love

Sometimes late at night though

He would text her and “talk” for hours

He was miles away though

And now he found someone else

She was happy for him, truly

But she still had dreams at night

Of being in his arms held tight

And he grabs her face oh so gently

He kisses her for the first time

It is everything she thought it would be

But morning always comes

With a new day without him

And she still silently hopes

Someday it could be her with him

(I hope everyone had a Happy Valentine’s Day. I know I am a little late with the wish but I am well know for my tardiness!)

Who I Am

Take a deep breath

Try to ignore the pain

Press onward into a new day

Where the past cannot reach me

And dreams can be seen ahead

Don’t give up fighting

To retain my identity

And keep track of my pride

I may be disabled

By mind and body

But I am still me on the inside

Her Words

She pours her heart out at the end of each day. Crying and writing how she hurts. It’s her deep dark secrets that make her fill her diary – she lives in depression and longs for a life. One with a man who will love her like there is no one else. With each word she scratches out poetry of heartache and pain. Her demons speak of her fears. Her soul sings of hope and dreams.

She turns on the radio and begins to write again. This night is like all the others. No dreams came true, no love was found.

And what I first thought of with this prompt …

Move Ahead Never Behind

Ahead the trees still call my name

Traces of my dreams they still remain

Behind is all that I have lost

Friends and family what a cost

Ahead is peaceful and so quiet

Never filled with chaos and riots

Behind is where I ran away

To places I never thought I’d stay

Ahead is the path of my choosing

I know I will never be losing

Behind it is time to shut the door

And forget the times I’d cry on the floor

Ahead it is time to take the path

And bask in the glow of the aftermath

Upon The Wind

Release your inner turmoil

Let the emotion seep out of you

Like ink from the pen of a poet

Scribbling out his frustrations and desires

Free the hesitations that hold you back

Let them run wild

Like horses across the plains

Racing towards their freedom

Discharge your dreams upon the wind

Let them climb into the future

Like eagles flying high

Soaring over their lands

The Back Wall

we used to meet
at the back wall at recess
I’d hold your hand
and you would try to kiss me
but childhood dreams
can shatter with age
no star crossed lovers story for us
you went your way
and I went mine
but I often wonder
if we had tried harder
how different life would have been
but dreams only go forwards
there is no turning back
but still I’d like to ask
would you meet me at the back wall today

It’s All In My Head

In my mind there is
An extraordinary life
One where I am loved
Without any end
One where I am
Surrounded by friends
One where I am healthy
And without any pain
One where life is easy
And one laugh after another
But dreams and fantasies
Are only fleeting wishes
That can be blown away
By the winds of reality

Stuck In A Dream

abstract art
was on the walls
the floor was slowly giving way
to a pool of bright clear water
shining like diamonds on the sand
and people I didn’t know
would stop and say hello
while dripping paint behind
in a funny sort of silhouette
then the moons did catch my eyes
as they rose next to the sun
the art got up and walked away
and the water flowed up to the sky
leaving me behind
in an unknown hallway
feeling about to cry

Ready, Steady, Go

Are you ready
Ready for the rain to fall
It will wash over you
Taking away the grit
From all the pain
You have endured

Hold steady
Steady and on course
For the future holds hope
that will sustain your dreams
for all the happiness
your heart can hold

Let’s go
Go and fulfill a destiny
That began with your first breath
It got a little lost along the way
But now the sky has a rainbow
With your pot of gold waiting
