Was It Worth It?

Walking along a field full of wildflowers

My mind travels back to your arms

I remember how you once brought me flowers

And the many times we walked the woods

But no longer are we together

The fates have seen to that

Your smile was taken from me

By the hand of another man

A man with hatred in his soul

All for twenty dollars and an old Iphone

Written for Fandango’s One-Word Challenge (FOWC) – field

Class Reunion

He did not recognize her

It broke her heart

He was all she had thought about for years

She apparently wasn’t even a distant memory

She was lost in his rugged features again

When he suddenly caught her eyes

Was there a small spark of memory

Did he maybe know who she was

She started to panic as he walked her way

She had dreamed of this moment

Now there was no turning back

Fate would now set her dreams into motion

No More Second Chances

Destroyed by you again

This devastation has to end

I let you in and trust once more

Only to have you walk out the door

Even though it hurts so deep

And I suddenly begin to weep

The lies don’t ever seem to stop

And this life on the edge I have to drop

I lock the door and take a deep breath

Knowing this is our relationship’s death

I could not control our fate

If only I’d known before our first date…
