Fandango’s Friday Flashback – April 3rd

I realize I am almost three hours late for Friday, but I am still going to squeeze this in here.  This week we will revisit 2018 for a happy poem… we all could use a little happy now.  This was originally posted here.  Join in with Fandango’s Friday Flashback (FFF).

Glowing

She stood by the window
Shining as bright as the sun
He had come home
Now she could share the news
To his shouted greeting
She replied with joy
And rushed to be by his side
He said she looked radiant
She blushed and spoke
In one breath
She shared the news
They soon would be parents
Their family was growing
Pride, love and excitement
All washed over him
Together they embraced in joy
All three of them

Fandango’s Friday Flashback – March 20th

This was a poem I wrote for the daily prompt “label” back in 2017.  It was originally published here .  I hope you like it!

One of a Kind

Don’t slap a label on me

I don’t fit inside of a box

I am a one of a kind original

Destined for better things

Than any label can give me

Labels are one-dimensional

And I have more depth than that

Don’t pin me to a label

Tomorrow I may change

Branch out into a new direction

I must do my own thing

Labels are for the masses

Of cookie cutter girls all the same

And I am completely uniquely me

Fandango’s Friday Flashback – March 13

I have a little time to sneak in this post this week.  I go back to 2017 when I was doing a daily happiness and gratitude challenge originally posted here.

Happy and Grateful – Day 71

As March begins I continue with my goal to find happiness and gratitude every day.  There is at least some small thing that can bring a smile and give you a moment to be grateful for.  Please join me in looking for the good moments of the day … it would be great if you would share them in the comments or on your own blog.  Be aware of the little wonders of the day!

Today I have spent a lot of it worrying.  Worrying is something I am really good at, I learned worrying from my Mom.  She would stay up late listening to the police scanner when my Dad worked overnight shift as a policeman.  So I definitely learned a thing or two from her.

First there is a winter storm advisory out for the night.  Last I looked we had a couple of inches of snow already.  But we aren’t supposed to get more than 5 inches.  Probably the most we have had in a storm this year, but I have been through a lot worse in the past.  My biggest concern was my daughter getting home from work and she made it fine.

I have also been worried about a friend who is seeing his biological father for the first time in a lot of years.  He never really knew him at all growing up and they were meeting tonight.  I felt better after he texted me things went ok for the night.

My worrying has been done for the day.  I am happy I can relax a little now.  Taking my anxiety meds will help too.  I am grateful every one is safe and happy.  Now if I can just get my tension level down enough to sleep…

Fandango’s Friday Flashback – January 31

Another week has come and gone, so it is once again time for Fandango’s Friday Flashback (FFF).  This week I reach back two years to a post I did for the word prompt cavity.  I hope you enjoy it!

Hollow

I have a hole in my chest
A place where a heart once belonged
It is now an hollow cavity
An echo of love lost
For you took my heart with you
When you walked out the door
And I have felt nothing but emptiness
Since you left me alone

Fandango’s Friday Flashback – January 24

This week for Fandango’s Friday Flashback (FFF) I dug back in my posts to January 24th in 2018.  This was the poem, originally published here, that I wrote for the word prompt candid.

Confession

“I have to be candid,
I have to speak the truth,
I love you”
She said to him.
He only said “No.”
Her heart stopped
For a second
That seemed like an eternity.
“You haven’t known me
Long enough to love me”
He added.
She swallowed back tears
“I know what is in my heart”
She told him with renewed confidence,
And he breathed
A heavy sigh.
“You don’t have to say anything,
Just know that I love you”
She said in almost a whisper
And kissed him softly.
He reached out to hold her
And they slept in
Each others arms.

Fandango’s Friday Flashback – January 3

I am glad to be able to have caught up enough to sneak this post in today.  I have missed doing these FFFs.  This week we go back to January 3rd, 2017  with a post that was originally here.

Silence

When the silence hits

It cuts to the bone.

There are no more angry words

No more tears

No more smiles

No more laughter

No more moments of tenderness

…just utter silence

Stillness

Solitude

Emptiness

Loneliness

Since you’ve been

Gone.

Fandango’s Friday Flashback – November 29th

I missed doing this on Friday by about an hour… not too bad for me.  I am finally close to being caught up again so I figured I could drop in for the FFF.  This is from three years ago and was originally posted here.

He

The bounce is back in his step

He has that old vigor back

He is on top of his game

He found hope in his life

He found someone to care

The world looks new again

He has a peace about him

He feels renewed

He is happy

He is in love

Fandango’s Friday Flashback – November 15

This week for Fandango’s Friday Flashback we go back three years to 2016 and the post that was originally here.

Totally Tanked

Set me in front of

An ocean view cut away

Let me hear the water move

Let me see the fish swim

Set me in front of

A salt water world

Let me watch the coral breathe

Let me see the seaweed dance

…bring the sea life closer to me

Let me take in their world

from my aquarium.

Fandango’s Friday Flashback – November 1

This weeks FFF takes me back two years to this post that was for the word prompt ghoulish…

Your Spirit

On a dark night

In the city graveyard

ghoulish site

Stopped me in my tracks

A ghostly figure

Floated above your tombstone

It turned as if it saw me

They quietly faded away

I often wonder why it left

If it was you

And will it ever return

I know you’re gone for good

But part of me wishes

I could see a shimmer of you

Just for a second

To smell your cologne in the air

To see you smile

To hear you laugh

If only…
