There once was a lady with a wish
To capture a massive tuna fish
She bought out the store
Lures, bait, rods and more
And her boat was quite outlandish

I have a picture of my grandpa on a shelf of my bookcase. Any photographer would look at it and say it was either underexposed for seeing him or over exposed for a silhouette. But it is one of my favorite pictures of him. It has a air of mystery to it that I love. And it puts him there by a lake in his ball cap (he always wore one fishing) looking at the horizon. I believe that picture inspired me the day I wrote this back in 2017, originally published here. Today I share if for FFF.
He was an avid fisherman
Would cast out his line
And be off in another world
Lost in the peace of the day
Soaking up the sun
Admiring the view
Living in the moment
Focused only on the rod
Waiting for that first slight bend
Hoping to catch the big one
I have to believe
He is still out on a lake
Catching one after another
At the whim of the wind
Wearing the wings of an angel
I look out over the lake
It is so still
so serene
I turn my gaze towards you
See the relaxed look on your face
You are in your element
At one with the outdoors
I watch as you cast your rod
Waiting for a bite
You are at peace
In a way I could never forget
I will forever hold
That image of you in my mind
Lost in dreams all your own

Two brothers
Slightly rocking
In an anchored boat
Two poles cast
Into the lake
Sit waiting
Two brothers
At peace
In nature
Now today
…one brother
Left behind
Will never forget
