An Iced Landscape

gingerly put my foot on the ice

Carefully testing my traction

Not wanting to take a fall

Winter had blanketed everything in ice

It all had a beautiful sparkle

But the beauty was deceptive

As the sounds of limbs cracking

Echoed through the night

Taking trees and wires down to the ground

No cars dared drive down the streets

It was the kind of night

Where Mother Nature proved her power
