Hello Goodbye

You said hello

And I started to resist

But you lured me with friendship

And I believed I was worth it

You painted a picture or hope

You made me human again

Then as suddenly as you came

You slammed the door shut

Left me without a ghost of a chance

To trust anyone again

And now I sit and wonder why

You never even said goodbye

Fandango’s Friday Flashback – July 31

I am finally back to taking part in Fandango’s Friday Flashback (FFF)… giving a chance for new people to see old posts and remind loyal readers of days gone by. This poem was original posted here as a response to a daily prompt from Fandango of the word “moment”… I hope you enjoy it!

The moment I said hello
My world changed
When your attention
Your touch
Your taste
All drew me in
Somehow we just fit
And every moment was alive

I can’t say why it ended
Sometimes these things just do
But it left me with
Insatiable memories
Me still wanting you

I’ll settle for the next best thing
A friendship built on love
That never went away
But some days I still wonder
Can we get a second chance

A chance to once again
Rekindle what might have been
With your attention
Your touch
Your taste
All that drew me in
That night so long ago
When I first said hello

Hello

The moment I said hello
My world changed
When your attention
Your touch
Your taste
All drew me in
Somehow we just fit
And every moment was alive

I can’t say why it ended
Sometimes these things just do
But it left me with
Insatiable memories
Me still wanting you

I’ll settle for the next best thing
A friendship built on love
That never went away
But some days I still wonder
Can we get a second chance

A chance to once again
Rekindle what might have been
With your attention
Your touch
Your taste
All that drew me in
That night so long ago
When I first said hello
