A to Z Challenge – D is for Dylan

“Inspiration is hard to come by. You have to take it where you find it.”

Bob Dylan

Bob Dylan is one of the great singer songwriters of the US. I wasn’t aware, until I looked for a quote, that he was born in Minnesota. At 80 he is still performing live and has dates coming up in Alabama, Tennessee and Oklahoma. His music is not just songs on his albums but he has written hundreds of songs that many other artists have covered. One of my favorites is Make You Feel My Love where he sings of doing anything to make his love interest feel his love. He is a wizard of words.

A to Z Challenge – I

The letter I…

Some nights are easy to write from the heart, some nights are all about my thoughts and dreams, and when I feel there is nothing left, an idea will come to me.  I have found inspiration from things around me.  Ideas can hit out of the blue – looking at a tshirt with a bird on it, a pack of gum at a store, a pile of mail on the table and so on.  Some days the ideas come fast and it is all I can do to write fast enough to keep up (but hey, my typing skills have improved over the years of blogging).  Other days I see a prompt and have to think about it for hours before the idea will form.  In the number of years since I have been writing (since I was in junior high) you would think I would run out of ideas at some point, but the words in one form or another always seem to come.  And for that I am grateful I have more ideas in me still.

The Muse

Look towards the horizon

Just where it gets fuzzy

Between the sky and the ground

A nebulous glow from the setting sun

That is where the vaguest idea

Drifts into sight to inspire me

A muse in the haze calling to me

About sunsets and happiness

And love that is so deep

A fleeting moment I must see

Or I will miss the chance to be inspired

Mumbles … HELP!

Well I feel I must apologize for a couple of things. One of course is that I have been way behind on reading post, but I am also a little behind on writing, which brings me to a problem. I said at the start of this year that I would do the daily word prompts all year… that is now not going to happen with word press stopping the daily prompts, among other things. So here is where you can help me. I need daily inspiration to write… do you know of a daily prompt or challenge I could use to keep the creative juices flowing? If so I would love for you to add a link in the comments. It may end up that I just do a couple of weekly prompts and fill in the rest as my muses will allow. I am sad to see the daily prompts go… but some of them were not even good triggers for poetry. Maybe this is a chance to expand on my fiction writing too. Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

Now I need to get back to reading and think a little on archaic… is there a poem with such a word? Only the muses know! Have a great day/night!

Happy and Grateful – Day 289

The month of October is upon us.  Fall is in full swing with the leaves gathering on the lawn… maybe a pile or two to run through even.  The evenings are getting dark earlier as the days grow shorter.  And a few of us look forward to a good scare with Halloween coming this month.  Everyday has at least some small portion of good in it.  I am looking for that good with this challenge to find my happiness and gratitude every day.  Join in with the challenge by commenting or writing your own blog… let’s find some goodness today.

A busy day today.  Took my Dad to the clinic this morning.  Then my boyfriend drove me to my doctor’s appointment out-of-town.  We stopped and saw my daughter briefly … and got some coffee while we were there of course.  Then went to the craft store so I could look for something I wanted for a Halloween card.  Didn’t find exactly what I wanted, but something that will work.  Then we finally came home.  I was happy to put my feet up and relax.

Looking through the craft store was fun and sad all in one.  Saw so many things I want but can’t afford.  It is always at the very least worth some inspiration to walk through a craft store because there is always something I see that sparks my creativity.  Today it was some coffee themed items that I can use for a friend or two.  I am always grateful to spend time around inspiration.

Well last night I had far too much trouble sleeping, so tonight I am hoping to get to sleep soon.  I at least didn’t fall asleep in the middle of writing like I was afraid might happen LOL.  Remember to find your happiness and feel your gratitude.  Have a wonderful night/day!
