You’re Invited

She takes the pen

And with an elaborate flourish

She addresses the envelope

In her best script

Her lettering has such finesse

It is elegant and beautiful

A perfect touch for what will be

A perfect wedding day

Can I twist your arm

Will you see things my way

I’ll give you a little nudge

Speaking words of encouragement

I hope I can cajole you

To slide over next to me

Because your smile is so inviting

Your arms are strong but empty

And your eyes intoxicate me

Will you join me for a drink

And intelligent conversation

What are the chances

I can listen to you speak all night

Because your voice it soothes

And your lips look delicious

Will you take a chance on me

Written for Fandango’s One-Word Challenge (FOWC) – cajole

I want you in my life

I need you to be a part of me

But I have said it all before

This is just another plea

A gold-edged invitation

From my heart to yours

I’m here for you to explore

I am full of open doors

Nothing held in secret

No truths will I hide

No fears for me either

My eyes are open wide

So know once again

How deeply I care

I love you completely

You have to be aware
