Happy and Grateful – Day 339 & 340

One of my favorite months is upon us. I love the wonder of the holidays.  How it can light up young and old alike.  The weather is (usually) starting to change the world white and frosty.  And the promise of a new year is just around the corner.  This is the final month of my attempt to find the things that make me happy and grateful every day for a year… I have mixed emotions that it will be ending.  Please join me these last few days and post your happiness and gratitude in the comments or on your own blog.  There is always some good in the day no matter how small.

I have not done so good this month… here I am playing catch up once again.  The fatigue got the best of me last night and if I don’t hurry it might get me tonight too.  So lets jump right into the action.

Yesterday was pretty quiet.  I did a little work on my Christmas cards I am making.  I need to get busy on that project so I can crank them out and then write some letters to go with them.  But I was grateful for the little bit of work I did get done on them.

I did actually order two Christmas gifts online last night too.  It makes me happy that I have started shopping.  I would love to be done a week before hand, but I have never been that organized so I will take what I can.

Today was all about running errands – library, bank, pharmacy and tobacco shop for Dad.  I got a lot accomplished but I feel it too and I’m pretty worn out.  I was grateful to get it all done though.

Tonight was movie night for my boyfriend and I.  I had checked out the movie Logan from the library and it was really good.  I was happy to be able to watch it.  I love my local library and all it offers – books, movies, music.

Ok now to post this… it has been a long day and I am tired.

(and this is the point where I fell asleep last night… ugh!  Let’s wrap this up…)

Remember to find your happiness and feel your gratitude.  Have a wonderful night/day!

Happy and Grateful – Days 122 and 123

May has arrived and I hope it brings lots of Spring cheer with it.  I am in my fifth month now of taking time to acknowledge the things that make me happy and grateful every day… almost half way to my goal of a full year.  If you want to join in on this challenge please add your thoughts in the comments or start your own blog.  There is a lot to be happy and grateful for!

I feel like I am playing a game of catch up this week and never getting anywhere.  So here I am combining Tuesday and Wednesday in hopes of finally getting on the right track.

Both days brought some sunshine to me which was a nice change.  I had windows open to hear the birds singing followed by the children screaming when school gets out.  There is one girl who 90% of the time is screaming or yelling to be heard in the group of children playing…. all I can think is that my folks would never let me scream like that at the playground all the time.  But sadly there are often no parents around watching the kids.

Aside from a little fresh air, Dad had another doctor appointment and his weekly coffee “meeting” today.  So there were errands to run.  I also popped into our local library today to find a couple of DVDs to check out.  I love our library.  Besides the tons of books they have well stocked CD and DVD collections to check out.  They have plenty of events at the library.  Great programs for kids and families.  And even a concert or two in the auditorium.  It is a great library.

So my happy has to come from the sunshine and bird songs.  And I will say it a thousand times, I am so grateful for our public library!  Now I think I will read a little and head off to dreamland.

Happy and Grateful – Day 29

I have undertaken a challenge this year.  I am trying to find the good in every day by writing about happiness and gratitude that I feel.  No matter how small there is always something to bring a smile or make you grateful, if just for a moment.  Follow along with me as I dig deep as necessary and find the peace of the day.  Join in if you are feeling happy and grateful too – in the comments or on your own blog.  Let’s find some fun!

I was feeling a bit better today so I decided to go out and about.  I met my favorite person – my daughter – and had some spiced chai latte at a local coffee shop.  We chatted for a bit and then went to the library to browse.  I am in the middle of a Joe Hill book right now so I didn’t find anything just yet.  My daughter however came up with about 4 books to take home.

It was nice to see my daughter, that always makes me happy.  I still had enough energy to pick up a handful of things at the grocery store for my Dad and dropped them off when I made him dinner.  I am grateful I got those things done.  I may have more back and hip pain again tonight, but I do feel like it was a good day.

Day 83 – 100 Days of Happiness

I have sat here watching the cursor blink off and on for far too long with no clear direction in mind.  There are a lot of little moments of happiness but not any one thing that stands out better than the rest.

  • I took my car to the repair shop to get my door replaced… got a nice little Camry to drive until it is fixed.
  • The snow that fell yesterday all melted away today.
  • I got a book in on hold at the library I have been looking forward to reading
  • I made it to an Al-anon meeting and saw some people I haven’t seen for a while
  • I got a text from a friend I hadn’t heard from in a while
  • Finally made plans with my daughter to get together for lunch this week

All good things, but not one that stands out.  I could even add the adorable smile from a cute little girl at the library who was waiting with her mom when I walked in.  Happiness some days is all around us in small but wonderful doses.

100 Days of Happiness

I had a long day after a short night so please forgive me for posting two days in one post…

Day 42 –

After a fun night with my daughter and boyfriend, I realized why I don’t have more late nights/early mornings like that anymore.  I just can’t handle the lack of sleep like I used to.  So the happy moment was when I had a chance to relax and catch a nap.  As a child we hate nap time, but as adults we learn to really love those moments … or at least I do.  Maybe it is just the fatigue that comes with fibromyalgia?  Regardless waking from a nap refreshed just feels good, like a nice big hug.

Day 43 –

Today I took advantage of the quiet time while my boyfriend was at work and did something I love to do – read.  I have to admit this is a different form of reading.  It is an audio book for The Fireman by Joe Hill.  I grew up reading Stephen King and when I read Heart Shaped Box by his son Joe I was hooked on his writing style.  He can really rope you into a story and keep you turning the pages.  I happen to find this audio book by accident when I was at my local library looking for a movie on DVD to check out.  The case of CDs happened to catch my eye and I had to “read” it.  I find I can go through the “junk mail” I get from all the businesses in my inbox while I listen.  I used to “read” a lot of books on CD when I was working out-of-town and had a 20 minute drive to work. Reading opens up so many different worlds!  Now I need to go and listen to a bit more… only 2 of the 18 CDs left to listen to.
