Oh My

To my amusement

You made me laugh

And friendship did arrive

To my delight

You kissed my cheek

And romance began to bloom

To my pleasure

You filled my desires

And love entered my heart

To my surprise

You loved me too

And marriage swept us up

To my amazement

You began to drink

And distrust became the norm

To my dismay

You left our home

And sadness filled my heart

To my disappointment

You filed for divorce

And our marriage was erased

To my shock

You drank more

And death took you away

Never Another

Photo by Felipe Cespedes on Pexels.com

Friends tell me

I will find another

Family worries

I spend too much time alone

They all say

There is life to be lived

But I feel so alone

No one understood me like you

You were my best friend

My one love one you

There is no way

I can ever replace you in my heart

So they will just drone on

And I will pretend to listen

But never will I love again

Like I loved you

Put Down the Book

Like a character in a romance novel

He seemed to be perfect

But novels are only stories

Made up in someone’s mind

And he showed his true colors

With all his character flaws

In a matter of time

But when he hit her

That was the last straw

She closed that chapter of her life

And never looked back again

Glad to be rid of him

And all his deceitful ways

Before He Leaves

Photo by Roberto Lee Cortes on Pexels.com

It’s always the same

He stands at the doorway

And gives a perfunctory

“I love you”

Then leaves for the day

He returns home

Not much to say

Then retreats to

His private spaces

***

If only she knew

If he still cared

She is so alone

Too much of the time

***

He stands at the door

Another day like the rest

“I love you”

And he’s gone

Poof, I’m Gone

I have had to ask

More than once

Do I matter

You turn silent

You are distant

And our time is short

Once again

You close your mouth

Your eyes are averted

And you make yourself scarce

I’m getting tired of wondering

If I still matter to you

I may no longer ask

And just follow your lead

And disappear

Double Homicide

Take a look through the trees

Strain to see to the horizon

If you can catch a glimpse of heaven

You’ll see him and her

They were perfect together

It hurt so much to see him with her

But even in death they shine as one

You may have lost him

But it should comfort you to know

They were meant to be

And now they will be together forever

While you will be forever locked in hell

Completely Annihilated

When love dies

It kills the heart

It obliterates the soul

And it destroys all hope

Ubiquitous memories of him

Assault me daily

And I feel at war with myself

Why can’t I forget

When he can so easily

Move forward

Pieces

You know she is going to do it

She is stepping out on you

She will find an excuse again

And bat those lashes at you

Why don’t you see it

The way she is using you

You forgive her again and again

Thinking she is something special

When she is not worth your time

She is apt to leave any day

And I will be the one

Who will pick up the pieces

Of your broken heart again

Over

couple-having-a-misunderstanding-3692885

I want to iron this out

We can make it work

I need you

I love you

There is nothing left to say

We just didn’t last

I’ll miss you

I love you too

One more chance please

My heart is breaking

I need you

I love you

There are no more chances

We have run out of hope

I’ll miss you

I love you too

… he needed her

She still loved him

But the door closed

It was over

Stupid Cupid

Image result for broken heart with arrow"

Sometimes it feels

Like I am in a conspiracy

The fates or cupid

Have it out for me

They get my hopes up

Then dash them with goodbyes

Will I ever find a lasting love

Will the next one be the right one

All I can do is wait and hope

That one day my love will come

And I can be happy at last
