Fandango’s Friday Flashback – January 31

Another week has come and gone, so it is once again time for Fandango’s Friday Flashback (FFF).  This week I reach back two years to a post I did for the word prompt cavity.  I hope you enjoy it!

I have a hole in my chest
A place where a heart once belonged
It is now an hollow cavity
An echo of love lost
For you took my heart with you
When you walked out the door
And I have felt nothing but emptiness
Since you left me alone

Next Chapter

Don’t look over your shoulder

Keep your head held high

Walk into the future

Knowing this is for the best

This chapter may be ending

But there are many pages ahead

Your story is far from over

This was all there to learn from

So, discard the pain and hurt

Carrying only forward

With pleasant memories

Of how things once were

Forgiveness for the wrongs done

Will also heal you too

So, don’t hold onto anger

Always remember the love

Don’t tell me it’s nothing

Then go skulk in your room

I think by now

I know when you are plotting

Don’t hide in the shadows

Face me with the truth

I think by now

I deserve to hear it

Don’t say it is over

And refuse to talk

I think by now

I have the right to have my say

Don’t shut me out

Building up walls

I think by now

You should be able to trust me

I think by now

It is clearly too late

Fandango’s Friday Flashback – October 18

I realize this is Saturday… just pretend with me for a moment that I am not a day behind.  I blame it on my birthday this week… not that we did a lot for it but I did see two doctors that day and went out to dinner with my boyfriend.  Friday was all about resting and being wiped out after the fact.

So let’s take a look at 2016 for this FFF, the post was originally posted here.

Forgotten Dreams

This urgent need is back again

I want to reach out and touch you

Taste you

See you in loves light

But needs and wants

Don’t close the distance

That has grown

Between us

I have to learn to give up

On the dreams of us

You don’t want me

And I must move on

Coffee Talk

I sit in the café

Where we used to meet

And wistful thoughts

Come to mind.

I never felt

We were wrong,

You brought about

That eventual end.

And to this day,

I still believe,

We could make it.

If you would just

Give me a chance

To rekindle what

Once was

Closed For Repairs

Can we even fix this

Is there an easy way

To fall in love again

Distant for so long

It seems we are strangers

if only we can rectify

the space between you and I

and find a way to embrace

what we discover as the start

of something brand new

Enough To Bring The House Down

A strong foundation

Four walls

And a roof over my head

I have a house

Your arms

The touch of your hand

And the gentlest kiss

I am home

A deep kiss

Full body embrace

And unbridled passion

I am in heaven

A good bye

Never to meet again

And emptiness that never ends

I’m in hell on earth

The same old routine

Nothing is ever new

We pass each other in the hall

And there is no passion at all

You go to work

And I am left alone

But it really isn’t much different

Then when you’re at home

Because when you’re here

Life is so humdrum

Our big excitement

Is a trip to the store

The same old routine

Nothing is ever new

Maybe it’s time to try

A life without you
