From Trash To Treasure

Take out this trash

And clean things up

I want this out of my life

So much junk

Can weigh you down

And leave you out to dry

So pack up this baggage

And get it out of sight

While I tidy up what’s left

The scraps and dust

Will soon be gone

And I can start

A brand new life

Put Down the Book

Like a character in a romance novel

He seemed to be perfect

But novels are only stories

Made up in someone’s mind

And he showed his true colors

With all his character flaws

In a matter of time

But when he hit her

That was the last straw

She closed that chapter of her life

And never looked back again

Glad to be rid of him

And all his deceitful ways

Draw a shadow of myself

Outline who I once was

For today is the day

I leave that old life behind

And strike out to be me

Trace around the fear and doubt

Circle the inadequacy I feel

I dig deep for inspiration

And pull out all my strength

Time to face my new realities

Ready, Steady, Go

Are you ready
Ready for the rain to fall
It will wash over you
Taking away the grit
From all the pain
You have endured

Hold steady
Steady and on course
For the future holds hope
that will sustain your dreams
for all the happiness
your heart can hold

Let’s go
Go and fulfill a destiny
That began with your first breath
It got a little lost along the way
But now the sky has a rainbow
With your pot of gold waiting

She was relieved

He was gone

No longer would she ever

Feel like a pawn

His ways of controlling

Were now in the past

This new found freedom

Was destined to last

Not because she felt

She would always be alone

But because of maturity

And the way she had grown

A new life she wanted

One of satisfaction

Built on trust

And mutual attraction

And peace and hope

Would be part of each day

For now she was happy

She was well on her way
