Stella

It had been too early.  She came into the world so small.  She was only 5 pounds and 4 ounces.  She was about 5 weeks ahead of schedule.  Her mom had been released from the hospital, but it had been Stella’s first home for 3 weeks while she grew a little bit more.

Today was the day though.  She would be coming home, and mom and dad couldn’t be happier.  The nursery was ready and waiting.  They had to finish it in the weeks after she was born while waiting for this moment.  Dad was putting the car seat into the car while Mom was gathering the first clothes Stella would be wearing.

They arrived at the hospital and were so happy to be able to hold their daughter.  The doctor and nurses talked to them about all they should know and filled out the discharge paperwork.  This was it, finally, Mom, Dad and Stella all walked out of the hospital.  A happy family on homecoming day!

Not My Knight

I fell in love
I fell hard
It was like a dream almost
And he was there to rescue me
But my love was premature
As his knight’s armor was tarnished
He still loved another
And would never be mine
No matter what he said
It didn’t ease the pain
He will forever be the one
Who made me believe in love at first sight
Too bad it wasn’t the same for him
