Happy and Grateful – Day 228

Seven months are gone now and surprisingly I am still plugging along with this challenge to post about my happiness and gratitude every day this year.  August brings the state fair here in Iowa and lots of heat and humidity.  It is the time to see the back to school shopping start with kids dreading it and parents loving it.  As I continue my challenge I hope you will take a minute to reflect on your day too.  You can even share your happiness and gratitude here in the comments or on your own blog.  There is good in every day!

It was a busy day today with coffee day for Dad, a stop at the tobacco shop (for my Dad) and dropping off books to my daughter.  Then I did a little paper work at home for my boyfriend… I am tired tonight.  But I was grateful most of my errands took place in between the little rain showers we had today.  I just wish we had gotten a little more rain than we did though.

Tonight my daughter came over to share some tacos for dinner and then try to catch up on our soap watching.  We had a purely girly moment and got all happy for a new plot twist with a surprising new couple getting together.  We laughed and cheered them on … it was a purely cheesy moment, but you have to be silly every once in a while.

All in all it was a pretty good day… I am just trying to hold onto that fact as I wind down in the lonely hours of the night.  I will do some more reading and try to get to sleep soon.  Remember to find your happiness and feel your gratitude.  Have a good night/day!

Monochrome Monday – Evening Rain

This weeks post is loosely in response to the weekly photo challenge – Elemental.  All living things need water to survive, this flower is no different.  I found it after an evening rain shower while relaxing at the park.  I hope you all have a wonderful week!

Happy and Grateful – Day 120

We have reached the month of April and I am still on course to post daily with my happiness and gratitude I have found.  Please join in if you feel like doing this too by sharing in the comments or on your own blog.  There is so much to be happy and grateful for.

Another day of rain… cold rain.  There are puddles all over.  We had to go to the store and got pretty wet just walking in.  But no worries… I am not so sweet I will melt LOL.

Once again I am posting late…played cards last night one more time before my friend gets ready to return to Georgia.  We laughed and trash talked each other and it was a very close game ending with only 20 points separating first and (tied) second place.  I am glad the three of us had a good night before sending my friend off on her way home.

I was happy to share the laughter with a dear friend.  I am so grateful for the time we had to spend with her these last two weekends.

Happy and Grateful – Day 119

We have reached the month of April and I am still on course to post daily with my happiness and gratitude I have found.  Please join in if you feel like doing this too by sharing in the comments or on your own blog.  There is so much to be happy and grateful for.

This month is fading fast… and I think Mother Nature is in need of a reality check,  We had 70°F weather in winter and now 30-40°F weather in the spring.  That is mixed up!  Add in the rain and it was a good day for being inside wrapped in warmth of some kind.  I spent most of the day in a sweatshirt.

No late night card games this time… my friend has to get up “early” for a lunch date.  So the three of us watched a movie instead.  It was Deja Vu with Denzel Washington.  It was a very good movie with lots of action and a little science fiction thrown in too.

Over all it was a good day, pretty quiet and relaxed.  I am happy I had some time to talk, just us girls, with my friend.  And I am grateful that the rain stopped while I was headed to my Dads to fix him dinner – I am finding the older I get, the less I like driving in the rain.  BUT I will still take it over snow and ice anytime!

(Sorry this is posted late…. darn fatigue and meds hit faster than I thought they would last night!)

Happy and Grateful – Day 92

We have reached the month of April and I am still on course to post daily with my happiness and gratitude I have found.  Please join in if you feel like doing this too by sharing in the comments or on your own blog.  There is so much to be happy and grateful for.

Today was another cloudy day with a little bit of rain… they say that by Thursday we might see the sun again.  I can’t wait!  The weather is so gloomy and the rain gives me pain but I am still looking for good things.

The best thing I did today was some writing.  I wrote to a friend and I did some poetry besides my daily prompt poem.  I felt I needed to clear my head and heart a bit and writing always helps.  And having WordPress is good to give me a guaranteed outlet each day.  I am happy that I have time to blog and grateful that my brain has been pretty clear of fibro fog lately to write pretty well.

I hope everyone has a good start to their week!  (((HUGS)))

Happy and Grateful – Day 88

As March begins I continue with my goal to find happiness and gratitude every day.  There is at least some small thing that can bring a smile and give you a moment to be grateful for.  Please join me in looking for the good moments of the day … it would be great if you would share them in the comments or on your own blog.  Be aware of the little wonders of the day!

I wish I was young again… I would chant “Rain, rain, go away, come again another day…” and hold some hope that the words could maybe stop the rain.  It has been raining since sun up and is not slowing down anytime soon.  But even though it is not yet April I know that these showers will bring (May) flowers.  And that is what I am holding onto to get me through the cloudy rainy weather.  It could always be worse… it could be snowing!  YIKES!

I am happy the flowers are taking a nice deep drink and grateful it will not be long until I see some green followed by the colorful blooms of Spring.

“…It’s raining, it’s pouring, the old man is snoring.  He went to bed and he bumped his head and he didn’t get up ’til morning…”  (What were we thinking as kids to chant such silly things? LOL)

Day 75 – 100 Days of Happiness

It was a drizzly rain that lasted all day yesterday.  Temperatures in the low fifties so the rain felt like a chill to the bone.  Rain always makes me ache, cold always makes me ache, but the weather was not going to put a damper on the day.

I met my daughter for a nice breakfast at Perkins.  Fueled up on french toast and coffee we set out for our destination in the rain.  We made it into the “big city” and didn’t get lost once (thank you Google GPS).  We had arrived at the civic center.

It was the day the two of us had been waiting for, for a long time.  We were going to see the live stage production of the musical Rent.  It was a Saturday matinée and I was sad to see there were empty seats left for this 20th anniversary show.  But it was AMAZING!

The subtle differences between the movie and the stage production were obvious but not distracting at all.  I loved the way they staged the multi character scenes.  The voices were magnificent.  All the actors did a fantastic job!

Now my daughter and I have seen four different Broadway show here on the small stages in Iowa.  We have seen Cats, Wicked, Beauty and the Beast and now Rent.  I can’t wait for the next show to add to our list… would love for it to be The Color Purple when it starts to tour!

Today I have memories and a new tour shirt to wear … yesterday was definitely a day of happiness in spite of the weather!  Now off to today’s moments of happiness.

Day 3

A late summer storm is moving in

distant thunder rumbles closer

with each lightning flash.

Rain begins to wash away the days dust

wind carries each drop driving it down.

Puddles form as the storm grows

Winds howl louder with stronger gusts.

Small bits of hail pelt down to the ground

Thunder rolls deeper and longer.

Soon the lights flicker and threaten darkness.

In a matter of minutes the winds slow,

the rumbles calm as the lightning dims.

Another short summer storm has blown through

The puddles start to soak into the ground

and the clouds break apart.

This summer storm has quenched the land.

(My Day 3 happiness is the end of a summer storm and the fresh smell new fallen rain leaves behind)
