No Roommates Wanted

Going through the motions

Saying I love you

A quick kiss here and there

Nothing else

No closeness

No intimacy

Nothing in common

Only short conversations

What happened to us

Did time just wander on

And we missed each hour

I do still care

But this is not love

I need more than a roommate

I need love

RIP Don

The substance was all over the floor by the time the police arrived. It was kind of an iridescent green and it was growing. Slowly it had expanded from the stove across to the front of the sink. What it was John couldn’t possibly guess? He did know it covered the body of his roommate though, who lay on the floor dead.

“Are you the one who called about the body? What is this stuff?” The officer took a couple of big steps around the oozing mess and turned to face John.

“I don’t know, I was upstairs and heard a loud boom. When I got down here Don was on the floor covered with this slime and it was spreading.”

The officer looked at the slowly moving edge of goo and said, “Let’s step away from this stuff until haz mat gets here.”

The two men moved into the living room and the officer once again asked, “What is that ooze? Did you have a science experiment go wrong?”

John just shook his head and replied absently as he looked out the window. “I don’t know but it looks like it is coming out of the neighbor’s window.”
