Happy and Grateful – Day 284

The month of October is upon us.  Fall is in full swing with the leaves gathering on the lawn… maybe a pile or two to run through even.  The evenings are getting dark earlier as the days grow shorter.  And a few of us look forward to a good scare with Halloween coming this month.  Everyday has at least some small portion of good in it.  I am looking for that good with this challenge to find my happiness and gratitude every day.  Join in with the challenge by commenting or writing your own blog… let’s find some goodness today.

Aside from a few clouds it was another picture perfect fall day.  The trees are really starting to pop with color and I wish I had the time and energy to get out and take some pictures.  Maybe I can sneak out this weekend… so far there is nothing planned for Saturday or Sunday.

My mood is a little better today.  Of course I didn’t have as much down time today either.  It was coffee day for my Dad so that took up the first half of the afternoon.  I did get some time this afternoon to get ready for another doctor’s appointment coming up.  They now have a pre-visit checklist of sorts you can do on their website with any changes in meds or health concerns.  I am hoping that saves lots of question time when I go in next Monday.  I really like the way the clinics around here are going to online sites where you can manage your health records.  It is nice to be able to get results online without having to wait.  I can also message my doctor with concerns.  I am grateful they have this service.

Tonight we splurged a little and went to Perkins for dinner.  It is not a huge expense on Wednesdays as I am on their mailing list and get a buy one get one free entrée coupon every week for Wednesdays.  It always makes me happy when I can save money like that and the good comfort food is an added bonus.

I am feeling pretty tired tonight so it is time to stop the fingertips from talking much more.  Remember to find your happiness and feel your gratitude.  Have a good night/day!

Happy and Grateful – Day 187

July brings fireworks, picnics, pools and air conditioning. It is a time for those of us in the USA to celebrate our “birthday” and a personal time for me to celebrate life. It is hot and humid days and thunderstorms cooked up at night. I am continuing my challenge to find happiness and gratitude in every day. Join along in the comments or on your own blog. There is always good in every day.

It was another hot and humid day.  And a day of pain and fatigue.  I took two (almost three) naps, but thankfully woke up in time to both make my doctor’s appointment and pick up my boyfriend from work.  Now I hope I can sleep tonight.

Today was about quiet moments.  I was happy to be able to take a little time to read some this afternoon.  Then after dinner I was able to unwind a little more while watching a movie with my boyfriend.

This afternoon I did get to use a coupon for Great Clips and get my hair cut.  I have had long hair for a while now and with this summer heat it was time to go shorter.  I was grateful to have the extra savings to be able to afford a cut.  Now the tricky part is to try to style it close to the same tomorrow… it never looks like what the stylist did though.  Oh well.

My pillow is calling my name.  Remember to be grateful!  Good night.

Happy and Grateful – Day 182

July brings fireworks, picnics, pools and air conditioning. It is a time for those of us in the USA to celebrate our “birthday” and a personal time for me to celebrate life. Happy July everyone!  Around here you would swear we skipped a few day straight to the Fourth of July… they have been spending a lot of money on fireworks around us.  It is kind of funny too and the apartment management put a flier on everyone’s door reminding us of rules including the city ordinance against shooting off fireworks.  Maybe they haven’t been home after work yet today?

Aside from being on edge from the steady mini explosions out my window… today was alright.  No heavy humidity today, it was still pretty warm though.

I picked up my boyfriend after work and we stocked up on some groceries.  Saved about $17 with coupons and specials.  Then used our Fuel Saver to fill the car up and saved another $11.  It always make me happy to save money like that.

I got an email from a friend and we made some plans to have lunch together next week.  Now I have something to look forward to, so I am grateful for that.

Not working well with my muse tonight – she can be pretty difficult when she chooses.  Well that and a case of fibro fog can do me in.  So I will bid you all a good night and hope your July started out with a happy BANG!

Happy and Grateful – Day 26

I have undertaken a challenge this year.  I am trying to find the good in every day by writing about happiness and gratitude that I feel.  No matter how small there is always something to bring a smile or make you grateful, if just for a moment.  Follow along with me as I dig deep as necessary and find the peace of the day.  Join in if you are feeling happy and grateful too – in the comments or on your own blog.  Let’s find some fun!

`I am digging deep today to find my happiness.  I had high levels of fatigue and moderate pain today.  But I still pushed forward and went to the store with my boyfriend to restock our nearly empty freezer.  I think I have mentioned before the store we shop at offers a fuel money saver if you buy certain products that are featured.  This week it was all meat and seafood purchases.  So we have enough meat to last us a couple of weeks or more.

We bought enough to save us 65¢ per gallon of gas… that will add up with a full tanks worth.  Not the best we have ever done in one shopping trip, but pretty good.  Should save us close to $9 next fill up.  And we will eat well for the coming weeks.  I am already craving the beef roast in the slow cooker… yummmm!

I am happy we had the money (it was payday today) and were able to take advantage of the sale.  Grateful I found the strength to make it through the shopping trip… just hope I don’t pay for it with added pain tomorrow.

Day 80 – 100 Days of Happiness

I know I mentioned before that my boyfriend had to work on Thanksgiving.  We adapted our dinner to a different day and really didn’t mind too much as we still had a time for family to be together.  The really nice thing though is that because he worked that day he earned a special discount shopping night where instead of saving 10% on purchases he saved 25%.  So we had a long shopping trip tonight stocking up the pantry and buying a few Christmas gifts.  We kept it within our budget and found some good deals.  Shopping is always more fun when you can do it with bargains.  And I am now a few gifts closer to being done with Christmas shopping too.

Day 34 – 100 Days of Happiness

I love to bargain shop.  Our local grocery store has a money-saving program where certain sale items will earn you discounts on fuel at their gas stations.  Today we bought food for the weeks meals and racked up some pretty good discounts.  Enough so that I got my gas at almost half price when it was all said and done.  Since we are a one income household every penny adds up and it really makes me feel good when our “smart shopping” pays off in the end with good discounts.  Kind of a silly thing to be happy over, but a penny saved is a penny earned after all.
