The tress across the river

Were painted in shades

Of red, yellow and orange

Creating a picture

Of a paradigm of Autumn

Reminding us too

That winter is on the way

The winds blow harder

Shaking the trees

Day after day

Until the branches are bare

And the first snowflake falls

Happy and Grateful – Day 286

The month of October is upon us.  Fall is in full swing with the leaves gathering on the lawn… maybe a pile or two to run through even.  The evenings are getting dark earlier as the days grow shorter.  And a few of us look forward to a good scare with Halloween coming this month.  Everyday has at least some small portion of good in it.  I am looking for that good with this challenge to find my happiness and gratitude every day.  Join in with the challenge by commenting or writing your own blog… let’s find some goodness today.

This month is flying by… (Friday) the 13th already is hard to believe.  How many of you have bad feelings about this day?  I grew up with a Dad who always said Friday the 13th was his lucky day.  His birthday was on the 13th, but his mom swore it was NOT on a Friday that he was born.  My Dad often bought lottery tickets on Friday the 13th whenever they would come up… alas he never has won big, YET.

So aside from Jason being on TV today killing all the campers, it has been a good day.  Had some rain off and on, but it was another day of mild temperatures.  I am not sure what it is about a cool evening when you need to throw on a sweatshirt that feels so good to me.  I just know it is one of the reasons I love this time of year.  Maybe it is like putting on a warm hug.  It was that simple comfort that made me happy tonight when my boyfriend and I walked to the store.

After hearing from a friend today who lives in Louisiana (hot weather year round) and thinking of a friend in California (in the midst of wildfire “season”) I am realizing how grateful I am that I live in Iowa.  I may not be a big fan of either extreme in the summer and winter, but I love that there are four different seasons here.  Spring and Autumn are my favorites with the mild weather, but it would just get boring if it was the same thing all the time.  Do you love the weather and seasons where you live?

Now I am going to go try to clear my head enough for sleep.   I hope you remember to find your happiness and feel your gratitude.  Have a wonderful night/day!
