The letter O …
The time is almost here. The calendar says it is Spring, now if we could just get the weather to cooperate. We had light snow this week, but tomorrow it is supposed to return to the 60’s. We have had little tastes of Spring here and there, then Winter seems to sneak back in. This time I hope someone closes the door and locks it tight until late Fall.
Once the windows are open, I can hear the birds chirping and in about a month the lilacs will fill the air with their perfume. It is time to think about heading outdoors again. Taking a short walk (I think all I can handle is short) trying to find my health again. See the first signs of the season – the neighbors tulips blooming, the daffodils on the corner, and the first dandelions popping up in the yards.
Once warmer days come there is the opportunity for morel mushrooms to pop up. And more birds will fly back from the South. The squirrels and rabbits will come out in force. And the park by the river may even have a stray deer.
I can take my camera and capture moments of beauty I see in trees, flowers, the sky and more. To spend time outdoors brings me a little closer to the wonders all around we are usually too busy to see. Those moments I will be able to spend outdoors will bring me a peace I can find no other way. My gratitude today goes to being outdoors.
