Setting Records

The numbers flash by

Record highs again

This is no heat wave

It is a wave of disease

And it is relentless

Too many have succumbed

To the corona virus

Someone should take charge

Show some leadership

And direct us to

A healthy place again

Where families can gather

Friends can meet

And strangers will

Still shake your hand

Bring back humanity

Before we die in solitude

I am so tired of this illness controlling our lives… but that is the bottom line it IS our very lives. I live in a hot spot… a title I never thought I would see in the state of Iowa. We have between 1000 to 3000 new cases every day. Deaths have been hitting record numbers lately. I think the highest was 70 in one day. There is a LOT of rural area in Iowa, it is a farming state. Why are the numbers so high? I don’t understand it. Of course if we had been giving a little assistance, a guiding light from a leader… instead we got insults to China and comparisons to the flu. I see a little light around the corner with the vaccines on the horizon. Please WEAR YOUR MASKS and be safe. Sadly it is not over yet. (Socially distanced) (((HUGS)))

Beginnings

He smiles at her

She silently acknowledges him

He sends her a free drink

She sends an approving nod

He slowly approaches her

She gestures to the open chair next to her

They talk for hours

He turns on the charm

They laugh and dance

She feels like a school girl

He walks her to her car

She succumbs to his kiss goodnight

And thus their story begins…
