As her Dad droned on and on about what they were going to go see in the museum Penny just prayed for a break from all the plans and places they had to rush through on this trip to Washington DC. It was not what she had expected. And although she was learning things to take back to school with her for the fall, she had heard too much attention to the tiniest detail in planning where to go and what to do, even bathroom breaks. So, when her Dad stopped talking, she said, “Do we synchronize our watches now?”

He stood at the bar, handsome and with an undeniable confidence that was intoxicating me from across the room. I had to meet him even if I had no chance. I had to say hello or forever regret my decision.
I stood up and took my drink walking towards the bar. Soon we made eye contact. I came to within a couple of steps away and I tripped over the bottom of someone’s coat that had slid off their seat. I tripped right into his arms. I guess you could say that was the day I fell for my husband.
He stumbled and his friend Dave said, “Have a nice trip, see you next fall” and started laughing, loudly. Dave was always loud and thought he was funny. Tim knew it was mostly all really bad jokes though.
Tim told Dave, “Thanks, I am ok. I appreciate your concern” in a very sarcastic tone. It went unnoticed though. Dave just kept walking and said, “How long ago did the party start?”
“It was supposed to start at 8 o’clock. Relax, we will still be some of the first people there,” said Tim.
“I am planning on getting toasted. Don’t let me do anything too stupid,” Dave said with a laugh.
Tim said. “Just so long as you aren’t stupid enough to join the guys in tripping out. I guess Erik had a really bad trip at the last party,”
Dave rolled his eyes and said, “I won’t do anything (hopefully) that would jeopardize my trip to Florida next week. And getting way out there might get me in trouble. I only want a good beer buzzl”
Tim grabbed Dave’s shoulder and pointed to the house ahead, “This is the place Dave.”
Dave rubbed his hands together and said, “Onward, I need a beer!”

This is February and I am well on my way to attaining a goal I set for myself. I am trying to post every day with happiness and gratitude that I have encountered that day. There is always something no matter how small it may seem that we can be grateful for and even just a shared smile can make you happy if only for a moment. Please try to find those moments for yourself too… if you’re up to it I would love if you would share them too in the comments or your own blog. Being aware can really turn a day around!
I am writing early… in a way ahead of the happiness. But then again I do have a peace about me that is happy like. I am hours away from taking a short trip with my niece, my daughter and her friend. They have tickets for an event tomorrow night that we are all going to and we thought we would make a weekend out of it. So we leave in about 3 hours and I am nervous but excited.
I will have two days where I don’t have to worry about running errands. I am not driving so I don’t have to deal with traffic anxiety. I get to spend time with my daughter. It will be fun and I am happy about that. I am grateful that my sister can help my Dad out while I am gone. I should be packing now, but wanted to sneak in a couple of posts. I will try to get my Day 35 out as soon as I can when we get back… I am sure I will need a little recovery time though. I hope everyone has a super weekend… (((HUGS)))!
