Seven months are gone now and surprisingly I am still plugging along with this challenge to post about my happiness and gratitude every day this year. August brings the state fair here in Iowa and lots of heat and humidity. It is the time to see the back to school shopping start with kids dreading it and parents loving it. As I continue my challenge I hope you will take a minute to reflect on your day too. You can even share your happiness and gratitude here in the comments or on your own blog. There is good in every day!
It is very late … or extra early depending on how you look at 4AM. But we had lots of fun playing cards into the wee hours of the morning. I laughed and felt honest joy tonight. I was happy sharing the night with my family and friend. Now I am trying to wind down to be able to sleep. My friend is on the couch doing the same. And my boyfriend was out about 15 minutes after the game ended.
We did have special help with the game…
The rest of the day was pretty mellow. Spent much of the afternoon talking with my friend and I was grateful she had time on this trip to come over and stay with us.
The cards are put away and the lights are turned down… time to close my eyes. Remember to find your happiness and feel your gratitude. Have a good night/day.
I trace the route
On the worn out map
You sent to me years ago.
The plan was to travel
And see you again
But life had other ideas.
My health declined
And you moved on
We somehow drifted apart.
But I still trace that line
And remember a dream
As a tear falls on your town.
I have undertaken a challenge this year. I am trying to find the good in every day by writing about happiness and gratitude that I feel. No matter how small there is always something to bring a smile or make you grateful, if just for a moment. Follow along with me as I dig deep as necessary and find the peace of the day. Join in if you are feeling happy and grateful too – in the comments or on your own blog. Let’s find some fun!
As I sip my Lemon Zinger herbal tea I try to unwind. It wasn’t a great day, but it ended on a pretty good note. My daughter stopped by after work to watch a little of the soap opera with me. We discussed how work has been going for her. She cooed over the cat – the cat is really hers, but she can’t have pets at her apartment so I keep her here. And she raided the refrigerator. She left with my sweatshirt on convinced we had the furnace set too low.
It always does me good to get a chance to see her again. I really miss her every day. I was happy to spend a couple of hours with her and grateful she is still a part of my life. Don’t know what I would do if she wasn’t. I love her to the moon and back!
