Spelling Bee

“E-G-R-E-G-I-O-U-S, egregious.”  Amanda looked nervous as she waited for the judges to tell her if she had spelled the word right.

“That is correct.  And that puts you in the finals tomorrow Miss Nelson.”

She let go a big sigh of relief and said, “Thank you judge.”  She immediately scanned the audience and found her mom seated near the back, but her dad was no where to be seen.  Amanda was twelve years old and she was now in the final round of the Midwest spelling bee.  She was happy to win but crushed that her dad was not there.
